ARE WE WITNESSING THE AWAKENING OF THE GABOINESE PEOPLE? ASSISTONS-NOUS AU REVEIL DES GABONAIS ?

English version There are signs that do not lie; the Gabonese people are rising up, they are becoming awakened. Slowly, gradually, and sometimes painfully, a critical mass of Gabonese citizens is moving away from impostors and now says no to cowardice, no to tyranny and yes to national deliverance. These Gabonese have understood that national plurality was actually an exceptional strength, the source of talent the merger of which is only capable of delivering the Gabon from oppression. They have understood that the bent and suffering mass under the tough living inflicted by the ruthless predator regime, needs deliverance. The signs of this revival coalesce into an act of national salvation. Dear readers, the signs are there before us. The ideas that are expressed, the merging feelings, beliefs that become brighter, the calls for unity that are insistent, the multifaceted and multi-sectorial almost permanent claims, protests increasingly direct and crystallized. Yes th

AN UMPTEENTH FRENCH HYPOCRISY OR FINALLY THE END OF AFRICAN DICTATORSHIPS? UNE ENIÈME HYPOCRISIE FRANÇAISE, OU ENFIN LA FIN DES DICTATURES AFRICAINES ?

Image
English version On the eve of the summit of the Francophonie in Dakar, which will see the election of the new Secretary General of the Organization that represents this cultural and political space, the French President François Hollande, in a preemptive message to African leaders, has asked them not to cling to power. One would like to believe in these words, but when it is considered that the overwhelming majority of dictatorships still in place in Africa are in the French Pre-square, one is entitled to ask questions about the sincerity of Mr. François Hollande, given that similar pronunciamientos have been made in the past without much consequence. Because Africans know that all sustainable dictatorships in the French pre-Square in Africa are, and have been, set up under the leadership of France, they have learned to be wary of statements made by the French heads of States. Africans still remember the election of one François Mitterrand in 1981, which was supposed to

SOCIAL NETWORKS ARE CONCERNING THE ALI BONGO REGIME. LES RÉSEAUX SOCIAUX INQUIÈTENT LE POUVOIR ALI BONGO

Image
English version During his last press conference, the Presidency Spokesperson, Alain Claude Bilié bi Nzé referred more than once to social networks; retorting the following to a reporter: "If you do Infos Kinguélé, that's not necessary." A few days earlier, in the columns of the government daily L’Union, the Deputy General Director for Radio at Gabon Television, the Public Service Channel, Mr Hasse Nziengui, wrote an indictment against the dangers posed to social and political peace, by social networks; pushing the comedy to blame these networks lack a certain "journalistic ethic". Coming from a Director of Gabon Television who is an active member of the PDG, one is tempted to think that he was saying this in jest! A few weeks ago, it was the National Delegate of the Union of Youth of the PDG, who was whining about the danger posed to his beautiful kingdom, Gabon; by the energy and robustness coming from social networks. Dear readers, su

POOR ALAIN CLAUDE BILIÉ BI NZÉ; DNA IS RECOGNIZED AS A BIOMETRIC DATA BY THE LEGISLATION OF GABON. SO ITS TEST CAN ONLY BE LEGAL IN GABON. PAUVRE ALAIN CLAUDE BILIÉ BI NZÉ; L’ADN EST RECONNUE COMME ÉTANT UNE DONNÉE BIOMETRIQUE PAR LA LÉGISLATION GABONAISE. DONC SON TEST NE PEUT ÊTRE QUE LÉGAL AU GABON

English version In a recent post, we told you that the spokesman of the Presidency of the Republic, Mr. Alain Claude Bilié bi Nzé in response to a question from the Journalist Christophe Boisbouvier of RFI, had said that the DNA test was forbidden in Gabon. If in the Gabonese Civil Code in our possession, dating from 2010, there is no mention of DNA, we had already amply demonstrated that this test was performed normally in a research center in Gabon and therefore could not be subject to any prohibition. But one of our astute readers came to guide us in the right direction, informing us that in fact it is in 2011 that the concept of DNA was introduced in the Gabonese jurisdiction, through the law on Personal Data, which was adopted by the National Assembly and the Senate and promulgated by Ali Bongo himself, via its publication in the Official Journal of the Gabonese Republic No. 74 of 24 to 31 October 2011. In Article 6, that law that codifies biometrics in Gabon

JEUNE AFRIQUE NO LONGER EVEN FEIGN TO PRACTICE JOURNALISM. JEUNE AFRIQUE NE SE DONNE MÊME PLUS LA PEINE DE FAIRE SEMBLANT DE PRATIQUER DU JOURNALISME

English version The magazine Jeune Afrique, which specializes in paid infomercial, has also in its own way joined in the pro-Bongo procession of testimonies against the book just published by the French journalist Pierre Péan. It would be for us a waste of time to devote an analysis to a text written with a backdrop so easily identifiable as that of Jeune Afrique. For all action, we simply leave it to your reading because we know that you will put it in the right category.

MISTER BILIÉ BI NZÉ, ARE DNA TESTS PROHIBITED IN GABON AND THE WORLD? MONSIEUR BILIÉ BI NZÉ, LES TESTS D’ADN SONT-ILS INTERDITS AU GABON ET DANS LE MONDE?

English Version Dear readers, the wealth of information in recent times has not allowed us to respond immediately to the big mistake in communication made by Alain Claude Bilié bi Nzé, the Spokesman of the Gabonese Presidency, on Radio France Internationale, responding to a question from Christophe Boisbouvier on Wednesday, 12 November 2014. Here we take time to demonstrate the ignorance of Bilié bi Nzé on the question. Christophe Boisbouvier’s question : “In Gabon, the opposition has seized this controversy and is challenging the original nationality of Ali Bongo. To end this controversy, would the president and his mother, Patience Dabany, not have an interest in submitting to a DNA test?” Alain Claude Bilié bi Nzé’s answer : “But why should they submit to a DNA test because the opposition wants to know? It would be enough that call into question the parentage of a child for the Gabonese families have to go undergo a DNA test? But in which country is this allow

THE MEETING OF THE FRONT IN PORT-GENTIL: A REPUBLICAN AND NON VIOLENT DEMONSTRATION. LE MEETING DU FRONT Á PORT-GENTIL: UNE DÉMONSTRATION RÉPUBLICAINE ET NON VIOLENTE

Image
The Front's leaders/les leaders du Front (photo: CLG) English Version The meeting at which the United Front of the Opposition forces invited the population in the city of Port-Gentil this past Saturday, 22 November 2014, was in many respects a resounding success. First, it was a Republican success in the most classic sense. In fact dear readers, this meeting took place in a simple and sober place where all Gabonese, irrespective of ethnicity or even political affiliation, were invited. This meeting also had the distinction of having as the central theme "Gabon", "The Nation", not an individual as it is accustomed with Ali Bongo’s event. Finally, this meeting was marked by non-violence and impeccable exemplary civic behavior from everyone, even when night fell and they had to continue in the dark. In a Gabonese context, where the regime still in its state media, presents the opposition as the pot of all forms of extremism, this meeting has been the

PARALLEL PORTRAITS BETWEEN MARIE MADELEINE MBORANTSUO AND PATRICK AWUAH? PORTRAITS PARALLÈLES ENTRE MARIE MADELEINE MBORANTSUO ET PATRICK AWUAH

Ashesi University (photo: Ashesi U) Universit é  Internationale de Libreville (image: Gabonews) English Version Dear readers, our post on the source of funds used to finance the Mborantsuo’s projects sparked a robust debate in our email inbox. It is as a corollary to that post that we present to you parallel portraits of two people who did exactly the same thing, that is to say that they created a university; but with a different path both personally and professionally and financially. This illustration will help you to see that public money should be spent on public investments and not committed for private initiatives; as interesting as these private initiatives can seem in absolute value. These portraits are those of Marie Madeleine Mborantsuo in Gabon and Patrick Awuah in Ghana. Birth: Marie Madeleine Mborantsuo was born on 18 April 1955 in Franceville, in the capital of the province of Haut Ogooué, in Gabon. Patrick Awuah was born in 1965 in Accra,
