Dear readers, we knew that Gabon was a banana republic, but after what Mborantsuo has just done, we will have to find a new expression to describe the deep hole into which our country is sinking.

Ali Bongo is finished. Instead of applying the transition mechanisms duly enshrined in the constitution, the people who think that they are the owners of Gabon have decided not to transfer the full powers to the President of the Senate, but rather to amend the constitution at night to allow the Vice-President to chair the councils of ministers in place of the president, which was not provided for in the constitution. Worse, this change was made by simple memorandum by Mborantsuo. It's scandalous!

But dear readers, a constitution is not change like that! This is not a cooking recipe that can be arbitrarily modified by choosing to add 3 pinches of salt instead of the two previously written down. The constitution is the fundamental document for the functioning of an entire nation and its modification must be the subject of a real debate among specialists and representatives of the people.

Any constitutional revision is a serious act for the nation and cannot be done by simple memorandum. The revision that Mborantsuo has just made is so fundamental to the functioning of our presidency that it should have been the subject of serious analyses and brought to adoption according to the prescribed forms and procedures.

This was done while Gabon has no president; no national assembly, and the president of the Senate is no more than a piece of furniture to whom no one asks anything.

Dear readers, we are allowed to tell ourselves that we cannot let Mborantsuo to nibble at the provisions of our constitution, according to her short-term goals. This is unacceptable, and we must oppose it with the strongest energy.

Chers lecteurs, nous savions que le Gabon était une république bananière, mais là après ce que Mborantsuo vient encore de faire, il va nous falloir trouver une nouvelle expression pour qualifier l’incurie dans laquelle on enfonce notre pays.

Ali Bongo est kaput. Au lieu d’appliquer les mécanismes de transition dument inscrits dans la constitution, les gens qui se pensent propriétaires du Gabon ont décidé de ne pas transférer les pleins pouvoirs au président du Sénat, mais plutôt de modifier nuitamment la constitution pour permettre au Vice-Président de présider les conseils des ministres en lieu et place du président, ce qui n’était pas prévu dans la constitution. Pire, cette modification a été faite par simple mémorandum de Mborantsuo. C’est scandaleux !

Mais chers lecteurs, une constitution ne se modifie pas comme ça ! Ce n’est pas une recette de cuisine qu’on peut arbitrairement modifier en choisissant d’ajouter 3 pincées de sel au lieu des deux précédemment inscrites. La constitution est le document fondamental au fonctionnement de toute une nation et sa modification doit faire l’objet d’un vrai débat de spécialistes et de représentants du peuple.

Toute révision constitutionnelle est un acte grave pour la nation et on ne peut la faire par simple mémorandum. La révision que vient d’opérer Mborantsuo est si fondamentale au fonctionnement de notre fonction présidentielle qu’elle aurait dû faire l’objet de sérieuses analyses et soumises à une adoption selon les formes et procédures prescrites.

Ceci a été fait alors que le Gabon n’a pas de président ; pas d’assemblée nationale, et que la présidente du Senat n’est plus qu’un meuble auquel personne ne demande rien.

Chers lecteurs, il nous est permis de nous dire que nous ne pouvons laisser Mborantsuo grignoter à la tête du client, les dispositions de notre constitution, selon les objectifs à court terme qui sont les siens. C’est inadmissible et nous devons nous y opposer avec la plus ferme énergie.
