ACCORDING TO LA LETTRE DU CONTINENT, ALI BONGO IS MORE AND MORE ISOLATED. D’APRÈS LA LETTRE DU CONTINENT, ALI BONGO EST DE PLUS EN PLUS ISOLÉ

Image
Ali Bongo (AFP) English version La Lettre du Continent, in its latest issue, describes Ali Bongo as being confronted with an unprecedented isolation that weakens him significantly. The many movements of defection and dissent within the regime and the PDG are the evidence of this isolation. La Lettre du Continent thinks that the recent resignation from the PDG of Leon-Paul Ngoulakia could be particularly destabilizing. The latter, first cousin of Ali Bongo, could help create greater dissent among elites from Haut-Ogooué. La Lettre du Continent also informs us that this resignation has particularly compromised the recent tour of Ali Bongo in that region, which was organized by Mathias Otounga Ossibadjouo and Jean-Pierre Oyiba. That tour was designed to revive Ali Bongo in that province where more and more people are saying openly that they feel left aside. But alas for Ali Bongo, Ngoulakia’s resignation came and turned everything upside down. La Lettre du Continent believes

SHOULD THE VIDEO OF ABUSED BUSINESS WOMEN HAVE BEEN PUBLISHED? YES ABSOLUTELY! FALLAIT-IL PUBLIER LA VIDÉO DES FEMMES COMMERÇANTES MALMENÉES? OUI ABSOLUMENT !

Image
English version It is due to the spread on social networks of the video showing how women traders have been treated by the repressive forces of Ali Bongo’s regime; and the amplification of the discontent among the Gabonese population that ensued, that the Interior Ministry came to declare laconically, not that sanctions were taken against the unscrupulous police officers, but against the person that filmed the video. In other words, dear readers, it is the video that was a problem to the regime and not the causes that enabled the scenario unfolding in that to take place. We have here again, all the evidence of the evil of that regime. Thanks to the internet, particularly to the various platforms of social networks established by free and independent Gabonese, we can now largely circumvent censorship and propaganda that continue to dominate the state media in Gabon and expose to the world the horror subjected by this regime upon the Gabonese people. Gabonese ordinary

THE DESPAIR OF GABONESE BUSINESSWOMEN. LE DESESPOIR DES FEMMES COMMERÇANTES GABONAISES

Image
English version The Gabonese people have often been criticized for their lack of entrepreneurial spirit, resourcefulness, and their too pronounced tendency for idleness and for office jobs. Nevertheless, there is a sample of the Gabonese population that has always escaped this stereotypical description: they are the women traders who sell their products in various markets across the country and carry by themselves our informal economy. The images shown by the above video are shocking in that they show us how these brave women, just wanting to sell their products on the market, were induced to revolt by stripping in public in protest of the treatment meted out to them by the police and tax authorities of the regime; and in response to which they were arrested and mistreated by those same authorities always ready to apply repression, when other methods would have been more appropriate. Why did these women strip in public? These brave women earn their living by the

ARTICLE FROM THE UNION NATIONALE PARTY. ARTICLE REÇU DE L’UNION NATIONALE

Image
Photos: Union Nationale English version National Union, here we go! When they were being chastised to stay in the offices of their headquarters in the former SOBRAGA, the confidence shown by the leaders of this opposition party was surprising. The answer was even ironic: "it is in offices that people think. It is within such a framework that serious things are conceived", stated with a smirk, Paul Marie Gondjout, one of the Deputy executive Secretaries. This time, this is it! The Union Nationale has gone into high gear and has decided to deploy its roadmap. First element, there is this mobilizing slogan that will probably frame all actions to be taken: "not a step without the Union Nationale." It is, they say, the last directive of the Executive Secretary, André Mba Obame, just days before his death. After the official launch of the party's activities throughout the national territory by the President Zacharie Myboto, on

DEMOCRATIE IS FORBIDDEN IN CENTRAL AFRICA! L’AFRIQUE CENTRALE INTERDITE DE DÉMOCRATIE

Image
Photo: AFP English version If reasonable people can agree on the fact that societies which have evolved differently have developed different specificities, no one can argue today that on democracy and human rights, there is an African specificity apart from international principles. Doing it means taking a similar posture to that of Flavien Enongoué who recently wrote that the idea of removing the political parties in Gabon was to be considered; an opinion that only service to a dictatorship can induce. There is no fundamental human rights, political, legal, which should only be valid in the West and not in Africa. From the moment we speak of the state, we automatically refer to the citizen, the individual, and therefore to their rights as well. The political power therefore has responsibilities vis-à-vis the citizens. One of these responsibilities is to give citizens the opportunity to choose their leaders. How to want the progress of a society if basic freedoms ar

English version In its edition of the last week of August 2015, Jeune Afrique published an ordered article in praise of Sassou Nguesso. Today, the same Sassou Nguesso whom Jeune Afrique worships, kills the Congolese people. Dear readers, do not forget Africa has many torturers... Version française Dans son édition de la dernière semaine d’aout 2015, Jeune Afrique publiait un article commande à la gloire de Sassou Nguesso. IS THIS THE RIDICULOUS RECORD PDG’S MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT WANT TO PRESENT TO SAVE ALI BONGO? C’EST-CE BILAN RIDICULE QUE LES DÉPUTÉS PDG VEULENT PRÉSENTER POUR SAUVER ALI BONGO ?

Image
Obama English version In a statement released recently, some PDG members of parliament are trying to present a record of the presence of Ali Bongo at the head of the country since 2009. But that balance is a pitiful exercise because it does not meet the generally accepted criteria when it comes to taking stock of a head of state. As an example of presentation of a true record, we offer a snapshot of that of US President Barack Obama, consisting of following the graphical evolution of two key indicators of the economy of his country during his presidency: the poverty rate and the unemployment rate. When comparing the form of the two records, one realizes that the one presented by the PDGists parliamentarians is a monumental farce. If these MPs want to present a record, it must have figures and not a collection of slogans like the Graine project etc... Version française Dans un communiqué rendu public récemment, des député

BREACH OR ILLUSION? RUPTURE OU ILLUSION ?

Image
Leon Paul Ngoulakia (photo: Gabonreview) English version Léon-Paul Ngoulakia has just resigned from the PDG, the ruling party, created by his step uncle/guardian Omar Bongo, and led today by his cousin, Ali Bongo. Some would see this resignation as another sign of the collapse of the regime; but on this blog, we remain cautious because if this resignation suggests that the Bongos’home is burning from the inside, we wish to not succumb to the temptation of marveling at illusions, nothing but illusions! Léon-Paul Ngoulakia has something that is missing for the rest of the Bongos, he has a common history with the Gabonese people. It went to Leon Mba High School where he was a good student and a good footballer. He is the only member of the Bongo family who got his high school diploma without having been helped because his regular marks in high school showed him to be a good student. He is one of a few Bongos to have had a quiet career, without much fanfare, until
