THE HURT OF FRANÇAFRIQUE. LES DOULEURS DE LA FRANÇAFRIQUE

Première partie "L'assassinat de Félix Moumié" by nadytch 2ème partie de "L'assassinat de Félix Moumié" by nadytch 3ème partie de "L'assassinat de Félix Moumié" by nadytch English version The other day, while watching the documentary "Françafrique" for the umpteenth time, we again measured just how revolting the collective treatment inflicted upon the people of Africa, really is. One such moment is the sad end of Felix Moumié in Geneva, at the hand of the French secret service. To further explore the damage Françafrique continues to inflict upon Africans today, we are proposing to you the videos above, which chronicle the assassination the Felix Moumie and the impact on his wife and family. We wish such a cinematographic document existed for the Gabonese diplomat Germain Mba or other Gabonese leaders who were cut down by Françafrique. But we are certain that their assassinations were equally as devastating to their

Laurent Fabuis and/et Ali Bongo English version The Gabonese people have found out that Ali Bongo, the man François Hollande said was not elected democratically, would be received at the Elysée palace in Paris on 5 July 2012. While many Africans were clearly expressing their skepticism about the ability of Francois Hollande to initiate a break with Françafrique, the cynicism of Holland in this area is still outrageous. Those who, like in 1981 with François Mitterrand, naively thought that the arrival of the left to power would put a damper on the nebulous system of Françafrique, may be in for a surprise. Once again, the Gabonese people in particular and Africans in general have confirmation that the failure of Nicolas Sarkozy and his party and the "change" in France has virtually no impact on France's African policy. At all times, the left and right must maintain intact the primary interests of France and so, do they keep in our African and Gabonese

Vidéo: Françafrique la Raison d’état from GriGriNews on Vimeo . English version The recently elected new president of France, Francois Hollande, said during his presidential campaign that Ali Bongo was not elected under democratic conditions and that he wanted to eliminate the françafrique networks. Now that he is president, what does it do? He receives Ali Bongo at the Elysée palace. What about the fact that Ali Bongo was not democratically elected? That is no longer important, it seems. The “raison d’état” is alive and well and everything is back to normal. The video above is the documentary “Françafrique” that we think is appropriate as a reminder of the franco-african relations. Version française Le président français récemment élu, François Hollande, avait déclaré pendant sa campagne présidentielle qu’Ali Bongo n'avait pas été élu dans des conditions démocratiques et qu'il voulait en finir avec les réseaux de la Françafrique. WHAT IS THE STRATEGIC VISION OF THE GABONESE OPPOSITION? QUELLE EST LA VISION STRATÉGIQUE DE L'OPPOSITION GABONAISE?

English version There were many reader's reactions to the posts we published in the last 3 days. The contortions of the Richard Attias & Associates company, obliged to publish their shallow recommendations that have never been received by the G20 (a reading of these would make you understand why); have amused many readers who often sent us mails boiling down to: "7 billion CFA francs for this? I could have written these recommendations for free!" Readers were also particularly interested in the immobility of the official opposition which seems to not know what it could or should do and a reader suggested that maybe, the lack of leadership of the opposition could be due to an absence of strategic vision in the sense that the opposition is the mirror image of the regime: the regime with its announcement effects and the official opposition with theirs. The perfect balance. We thought about that and respond to this reader by the reflections below.

WHAT DOES EGYPT TEACH US? QUE NOUS APPREND L’EGYPTE ?

Image
English version Beneath the chaos of repeated public demonstrations in Tahrir Square, the Egyptian people are slowly but surely asserting their authority on the future of their country. Egyptians have decided to no longer be like children waiting for their mother to come rescue them, but to take responsibility for their own destiny. If only the people of Gabon were watching them. A year ago, Hosni Mubarak wanted to engineer the monarchic takeover of the presidency by his son, the people of Egypt said no, took to the street and told Mubarak to go. The dictator fought back and put his tanks in the street, expecting that the people were going to run away. But the Egyptians people stayed firm and in the end it was Mubarak who had to go and today he is in the coma. Then the Egyptian military was put in charge of the transition and of the organization of the election. This military wanted to manipulate the election results but once again the Egyptian people took to the st

AFTER OUR LATEST POSTING, RICHARD ATTIAS &ASSOCIATES PUBLISH WHAT THEY SAY ARE THEIR PROPOSALS TO THE G20. Á LA SUITE DE NOTRE DERNIER BILLET, RICHARD ATTIAS ET ASSOCIÉS, ONT PUBLIÉ CE QU'ILS PRÉTENDENT ÊTRE LEURS RECOMMENDATIONS AU G20

Richard Attias English version Following our latest post revealing Ali Bongo and Richard Attias deception about some recommendations made to the G20 by their New-York Forum Africa, the company Richard Attias and Associates sent this Monday, precipitously to African press agencies, a clumsy document they say contains their recommendation to the G20. Anybody can tell that this document was assembled by amateurs, quickly and without any regard to structure and content. This is a face saving document put out by people who have been caught in a lie are trying to cover their tracks. Nothing less could be expected by Attias. Dear readers, this document is made public more than a week AFTER the G20 concluded and if you want a good laugh, you can read it here . WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE SO CALLED RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE NEW-YORK FORUM AFRICA? QUE SONT DEVENUES LES FAMEUSES RECOMMENDATIONS DU NEW-YORK FORUM AFRICA?

Image
English version During the New-York Forum Africa that just took place in Libreville, its organizer, Richard Attias, told anybody who wanted to listen that his forum was actually fairly substantive in that it was “a resolutely action-oriented platform.” For good measure, he added the following: “What is specific about this assembly is that it will enable concrete solutions to be proposed and implemented” and that at the end of the forum, “a final document containing proposals and recommendations would be presented to the G20 in Mexico.” Attias even exaggerated the imposture and the hyperbole by declaring that his New-York Forum Africa organized in Libreville was going to serve as a “think tank” for the G20. No kidding! Well dear readers, the New-York Forum Africa came and went; the G20 summit in Mexico took place as well. This blog wanted to verify what recommendations were received by the G20 from the New-York Forum Africa. We looked to Gabon to provide us with a copy o

WHY EVEN WASTE TIME TALKING ABOUT LOCAL ELECTIONS? POURQUOI PERDRE SON TEMPS Á MÊME DISCUTER D’ÉLECTIONS LOCALES?

Image
English version This Saturday, members of the Gabonese political opposition called a press conference to announce that they were going to boycott the local elections in 2013, if a more transparent application of biometrics was not implemented. In a normal democratic country, such a demand would be seminal and could sway the government. But in Gabon, unfortunately, the regime can care less about what the opposition is threatening to do. If the opposition wants to obtain results, it has to be bolder and exert real threats that could topple the regime. Boycotting local elections is not going to do it. During their press conference the opposition demanded that the proposed introduction of biometrics in the electoral process not only includes enrollment on the electoral list, but also and foremost, contains a process of authentication of each voter as well. The problem is that all members of the Gabonese opposition, in fact this blog could go as far as affirming that all par

English version As we reported in our last post, Gabon was being threatened with a default of its Eurobond coupon payment if it did not settle a financial dispute with the South African group Aveng. On Friday, 22 June 2012, the date limit of the coupon payment, the rating agency Standard & Poors (S&P) announced that Gabon had reached an agreement with its South African Creditor and thus the funds for the coupon payment could be made available. Below is the statement from S&P. June 22 Overview -- We understand that following a legal dispute between Gabon and a supplier company, an English court order froze Gabon's funds on the paying agent account. These funds were to be used for a $32 billion coupon payment, due June 12, 2012, on Gabon's $1 billion Eurobond. -- We also understand that following a settlement between Gabon and the plaintiff, the sovereign's paying agent made the payment to the bondholders on June 21, 2012. -- We are therefore af
