WHERE WAS THE URGENCY TO CLOSE GABON'S LAND BORDERS? OÙ ÉTAIT L’URGENCE DE FERMER LES FRONTIÈRES TERRESTRES DU GABON ?

Image
English version   The bizarre decision of the Bongo regime to close Gabon's land borders, to prevent a Covid-19 flare-up, seems curious to many Gabonese.   Indeed, Gabon has 3 land borders with Congo-Brazzaville, Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon. None of these 3 countries is experiencing a worrying epidemiological situation.   However, the air borders remain open; meaning that every week, there are 7 Air France arrivals from Paris in France, a country experiencing a catastrophic epidemiological situation. With these 7 arrivals, around 300 passengers per flight arrive from Paris, that is 2,100 people per week. So where is the real danger, at the border with Equatorial Guinea, or at Air France arrivals at Libreville airport?   Dear readers, the decision to close the land borders while leaving the air borders open defies common sense and has no epidemiological explanation; unless it is a pretext for settling other considerations that the regime does not dare explai

IN WOLEU-NTEM, POLITICS IS RESOLUTELY A BLOODSPORT! DANS LE WOLEU-NTEM, LA POLITIQUE EST RÉSOLUMENT UN SPORT DE COMBAT !

Image
English version   Dear readers, the video above is a campaign speech from Emmanuel Ondo-Methogo, given a day before the senatorial election in Bitam, where he was facing a candidate from Democracy Nouvelle, René Ndemezo’Obiang’s party. In this speech, Emmanuel Ondo-Methogo launches a merciless attack on René Ndemezo’Obiang, in a language that tells us that the political climate of that Wolen-Ntem town is one in which you must kill in order not to be killed. It is a brutal environment whithin which only the most carnivorous survives by devouring their opponents. However, the question is: how does all of this help Woleu-Ntem and Bitam in the long run?   In Woleu-Ntem, for some reasons, politics is not for the faint of heart. It is not a gentlemanly elegant sport, confined to polished insiders who are practitioners of the arts of deference and politeness. It has become a blood sport, much like bare knuckle boxing or cage fighting, where the only rule is to do anyth

WHAT IS A PATRIOT? BETTER, WHO IS A PATRIOT ? QU’EST-CE QU’UN PATRIOTE? MIEUX, QUI EST PATRIOTE?

Image
English version   We all like to use the word patriot; but do we really know what it means? Do we really understand what it takes to be a patriot?   The simple definition of the word patriot is "one who loves and supports his or her country," according to most dictionaries.   The word patriot is derived from the Greek word "patrios," which means "of one's father." A patriot is someone willing to stand up for what is right and good for the people and for their country. It does not mean necessary supporting politicians or the central government. Rather, it means someone supporting the ideals of the country.   A patriot holds the government accountable for the ways in which it's not living up to the country's ideals. A patriot is not blindly obedient to authority. Waving or kissing the flag doesn’t make anybody a patriot. A patriot celebrates the flag, but that doesn’t define a patriot.   A patriot protects freedom of

JEAN-GASPARD NTOUTOUME-AYI UNVEILS THE GREED AND CORRUPTION OF THE COPIL! JEAN-GASPARD NTOUME-AYI DÉVOILE LA CUPIDITÉ ET CORRUPTION DU COPIL!

Image
English version   Below, the testimony of Jean-Gaspard Ntoutoume-Ayi, published on his Facebook page on this Saturday, January 30, 2021.       Madam Prime Minister,   It is in your dual capacity as Head of Government and President of COPIL that I am going to address you through this publication.   This morning, Saturday January 30, 2021, I went to the Gahouma Laboratory taking my son who had to be tested for Covid-19 because of travel. He must indeed travel on Monday.   I will not describe the reception conditions and my remarks will be exclusively about the greed which now officially characterizes the COPIL.   First, I will remark that on Saturdays, the tests are done at the single rate of 20,000 Fcfa for everyone. You would think it's VIP for everyone. Mistake. It's 20,000 Fcfa for everyone and VIP for no one.   Better still, the payment is not subject to the issuance of a receipt from the Treasury, as is the case during the week, o

THE YOUNG PEOPLE GUILTY OF OBSCENE EXHIBITION MUST NOT BE EXCLUDED! IL NE FAUT PAS EXCLURE LES JEUNES COUPABLES DE S’ÊTRE EXHIBÉS OBSCÈNEMENT !

Image
English version   In all times and cultures, regardless of societal and geographic criteria, adults have always felt that the younger generations were less respectful, less polite and less well behaved, than they had been. The reality is that this finding is often very subjective because adults use their criteria and memories of their youth to assess children born in different circumstances and environments.   In Gabon, for making obscene dance videos, students from different secondary schools in Libreville have provoked a rather justified outcry in Gabonese society as a whole. But if the indignations are legitimate, the punishments inflicted on the guilty students seem to us totally absurd and disproportionate. Excluding these students from their schools is not for us a desirable, thoughtful and viable solution. Excluding them amounts to pushing them even more toward the path of dropping out of school.   Minors in general lack experience and therefore lack judgment,

HAS THE GABONESE SOCIETY BEEN IRREMEDIABLY DESTROYED! LA SOCIÉTÉ GABONAISE A-T-ELLE ÉTÉ IRRÉMÉDIABLEMENT DÉTRUITE ?

Image
English version   Dear readers, these days it seems that as time goes on, so does the strong impression that Gabonese society is being methodically destroyed. This issue has been on the list of things to examine for this blog and here is our analysis.   Dear readers, imagine that you were given the mission of destroying an enemy society, and that you were given a long-term focus to achieve that result. You would certainly want to proceed in that mission stealthily and effectively, by creating the conditions that would cause that society to actively destroy itself; and to shatter the ability of that society to defend itself against outside influences and predations. Dear readers, you would probably proceed by doing the following:   1.        You would first destroy the traditional spiritual and religious ideals that built that society and held it together. In short, you would attack the cultural foundations of that society.   2.        You would destroy the f
