IT IS RENÉ NDEMEZO’OBIANG TURN TO LEAVE THE PDG! AU TOUR DE MONSIEUR RENÉ NDEMEZO’OBIANG DE QUITTER LE PDG

A new defection, and not the least, is on the verge of being effective in the camp in power. The striking concerns that appear already in the Bongo camp may become more persistent if, as announced by various observers, René Ndemezo'Obiang was to formally announce on Saturday his definitive departure from the PDG and his anchoring in the logic of the dismissal of Ali Bongo.

There have been many defections from the PDG since 2009, but there are defections which for obvious reasons, were remarkable in their ability to rock the top of the State, and thus severely weaken the Ali Bongo’s posture. There have been defections in mass by André Mba Obame, Casimir Oye Mba, Paulette Moussavou-Missambo, Jean-Eyeghe Ndong etc., who first sounded the alarm; Then there was that of Jean Ping, who shook violently the regime; we then witnessed the withdrawal of Dijob Divungui followed by his rallying the militant opposition advocating for regime change; the departure of René Ndemezo'Obiang would add to these significant positioning going against Ali Bongo. The defection of René Ndemezo'Obiang is significant for the simple reason that he, as André Mba Obame, has long been an accomplice of Ali Bongo.

Dear readers, the complicity between René Ndemezo'Obiang and Ali Bongo goes back several decades, and such links do not break easily. As we have seen with Jean Ping, the evolution of René Ndemezo'Obiang away from the PDG’shackles will be noteworthy because when one decides to separate after the type of history that René Ndemezo'Obiang has with the PDFG in general and Ali Bongo in particular, its means that the fracture is serious.

A truthful biographical look allows us to see that if he was Minister from 2002 to 2012, that is to say for 10 years, it was at the turn of the 1990s that René Ndemezo'Obiang stood out and made himself known to observers of the Gabonese body politics, forming with André Mba Obame and Ali Bongo, a faction called the "Renovators" in the PDG. The members of that faction shook violently the caciques of that party and often used methods beyond acceptable boundaries. It is now accepted by everyone in Gabon that the "Renovators" were the sponsors of terror groups that were the Capistes and the Cool-Mondjeurs. The Capistes, a private militia of type "young thugs" organized by the PDG and entrusted to Hervé Opiangah, to terrorize members of the opposition and Gabonese showing any hint of sympathy for the opposition to the Bongo regime. The Cool-Mondjeurs meanwhile were bandits who spread terror in popular neighborhoods, committing all sorts of crimes aiming to paralyze the population and prevent it from joining the political opposition movements of the time. The intersection between the Capistes and the Cool-Mondjeurs was remarkable in that the figurehead spearheading the two groups was none other than and the legendary "Fantomas" who was the younger brother of René Ndemezo'Obiang who then held the post of Deputy Secretary General of the PDG. The same power that created "Fantomas" from scratch, once he became uncontrollable, decided to liquidate him after an epic manhunt conducted by an armed forces commando against "Fantomas" into the depth of Bitam where he would be coldly taken down. Murdered to silence him, many observers still say today, not without reason.

Dear readers, if we re-actualize these facts, it is to highlight the depth of the political linkage that had long joined Ali Bongo and René Ndemezo'Obiang; and therefore to remind you that this rupture promises to be as significant and difficultly healable than those of Andre Mba Obame and Jean Ping. When people have shared so much, the break can only be difficult and full of acrimony. The evolution of the departure of André Mba Obame from the Bongo galaxy and the events that ensued and are continuing, are a case in point. The dispersions of people like André Mba Obame, Jean Ping and René Ndemezo'Obiang, are perceived by the Bongo as declaration of duels to the death!

Dear readers, with the departure of René Ndemezo'Obiang, the PDG and Ali Bongo have just lost another "most loyal" and another library of secrets that could undermine the regime if he decided to begin to talk. Today the question is no longer: who is leaving the PDG? But rather "who is staying in it"? That party has lost its gray matter and those who could strategically hold a candle to the opposition. Never has Ali Bongo best worn his nickname of “itinerant political corpse” as now. Does René Ndemezo'Obiang represent the final nail that will seal forever the political coffin of this regime? The next few months will be crucial.

Une nouvelle défection, et pas des moindres, serait sur le point d’être effective dans le camp du pouvoir. Les inquiétudes déjà saisissantes qui s’affichent dans le camp Ali Bongo, risquent de devenir plus persistantes si, comme l’annoncent tous les observateurs, il s’avérait formellement que René Ndemezo’Obiang annonça ce Samedi son départ définitif du PDG et son ancrage dans la logique de la destitution d’Ali Bongo.

Il y a eu de nombreuses défections du PDG depuis 2009, mais il y a des défections qui pour des raisons évidentes, ont été remarquables dans leur capacité à faire tanguer le sommet de l'Etat, et donc d’affaiblir considérablement la posture d’Ali Bongo. Il y a eu les défections en masse d’André Mba Obame, Casimir Oye Mba, Paulette Moussavou-Missambo, Jean Eyeghe-Ndong etc., qui avaient en premier sonné le tocsin; Puis il y a eu celle de Jean Ping, qui a secoué violement le pouvoir; On a ensuite assisté au retrait de Dijob Divungui puis à son ralliement militant à l’opposition prônant le changement; le départ de René Ndemezo’Obiang viendrait s’ajouter à ces signicatifs positionnements allant désormais à l’opposé d’Ali Bongo. La défection de René Ndemezo’Obiang est significative pour la simple raison que ce dernier, comme André Mba Obame, ait été longtemps complice d’Ali Bongo.

Chers lecteurs, la complicité entre René Ndemezo’Obiang et Ali Bongo remonte à plusieurs décennies et ce genre de liens ne se brisent pas facilement. Comme nous l’avons vu pour Jean Ping, l’évolution de René Ndemezo’Obiang hors du carcan PDG sera digne d’intérêt car quand on décide de se séparer après les antécédents qu’a René Ndemezo’Obiang avec le PDG en général et Ali Bongo en particulier, c’est que la fracture est sérieuse.

Un regard biographique sans langue de bois nous permet de constater que s’il fut Ministre de 2002 à 2012, c'est-à-dire 10 ans durant, c’est au tournant des années 1990, que René Ndemezo’Obiang se distingue et se fait connaitre aux observateurs de la politique gabonaise, en formant avec André Mba Obame et Ali Bongo, un courant dit des « Rénovateurs » au sein du PDG. Les membres de ce courant secoueront violement les caciques dudit parti et utiliseront souvent des méthodes chevauchant les limites de l’acceptable. Il est aujourd’hui admis de tout le monde au Gabon, que les « Rénovateurs » furent les parrains des groupes de terreur que furent les Capistes et les Cool-Mondjeurs. Les Capistes, une milice privée de type « jeunes casseurs» organisée par le PDG et confiée à Hervé Opiangah, pour terroriser les membres de l’opposition et les Gabonais démontrant toute velléité d’opposition au régime Bongo. Les Cool-Mondjeurs quant à eux sont des bandits qui sèment la terreur dans les quartiers chauds, commettant toutes sortes de crimes ayant pour but de tétaniser la population et l’empêcher de se joindre aux mouvements politiques d’opposition de l’époque. L’intersection entre les Capistes et les Cool-Mondjeurs est remarquable du fait que la figure de proue exécutante des deux groupuscules n’est autre qu’un certain et désormais mythique « Fantomas », qui est le frère cadet de René Ndemezo’Obiang qui occupe alors les fonctions de Secrétaire General Adjoint du PDG. Le même pouvoir qui a monté de toute pièce « Fantomas », une fois ce dernier devenu incontrôlable, décida de le liquider après une épique chasse à l’homme menée par un commando des forces de sécurité contre « Fantomas » jusque dans les tréfonds de Bitam, où ce dernier sera froidement abattu. Un meurtre pour faire taire, disent encore aujourd’hui de nombreux observateurs, non sans raison.

Chers lecteurs, si nous vous réactualisons ces faits, c’est pour mettre en évidence la profondeur des liens politiques qui ont uni pendant longtemps Ali Bongo et René Ndemezo’Obiang; et par conséquent pour vous faire remarquer que cette rupture qui s’annonce, soit aussi significative et difficilement cicatrisable que celles d’André Mba Obame et de Jean Ping. Quand on a tant partagé, la rupture ne peut être qu’orageuse et pleine d’acrimonie. L’évolution du départ d’André Mba Obame de la galaxie Bongo et les péripéties qui s’en sont suivies et qui demeurent, est un cas d’école. Les dispersions de personnes comme André Mba Obame, Jean Ping ou René Ndemezo’Obiang, sont perçus par les Bongo comme des déclarations de duels à mort !

Chers lecteurs, avec le départ de René Ndemezo’Obiang, le PDG et Ali Bongo viennent de perdre un autre « fidèle parmi les fidèles », et une autre bibliothèque de secrets qui pourrait mettre à mal le régime s’il décidait de se mettre à table. Aujourd’hui, la question n’est plus: qui quitte le PDG ? Mais plutôt : « qui y reste » ? Ce parti s’est vidé de sa matière grise et de ceux qui pouvaient, côté stratégique, tenir la dragée haute à l’opposition. Ali Bongo n’a jamais mieux porté son surnom de cadavre politique ambulant, qu’en ce moment. René Ndemezo’Obiang représente-t-il le dernier clou qui scellera à jamais le cercueil politique de ce régime ? Les prochains mois seront déterminants.
