Certain actions currently taking place in Gabon drive you to exasperation. This is unfortunately the case with a bunch of clowns on social media, calling themselves the National Council of the Fang, who claimed to be meeting this Saturday with the mission of excommunicating a compatriot from this ethnic group for having made derogatory remarks about CBON.

It is very clearly an announcement designed specifically to create controversy, stir up indignation, or draw laughs through absurdity.

The poster reads "Conseils nation" (instead of Conseil national) and "se réuni" (instead of se réunit). These are the classic and almost systematic markers of amateur content hastily thrown together for social media.

There is no recognized legal, customary, or republican body called the "National Council of the Fang Ethnic Group" that would have the power to banish a citizen from their ethnic affiliation. It is absolute nonsense that plays on the clichés of tribalism.

On the internet, the line between political satire, trolling (gratuitous provocation), and dangerous disinformation is often very porous. This type of content is unfortunately tolerated by platform algorithms because it generates a massive amount of engagement (indignant comments, shares, passionate debates).

The goal of this image's creator is not to inform, but to attract attention by riding the wave of sensationalist news.

The best way to fight against such nonsense is often to refuse to give it the visibility it seeks, while deconstructing it factually.

Certains agissements en cours au Gabon vous poussent à l’exaspération. C'est malheureusement le cas d’une bande de zouaves sur les réseaux sociaux, se faisant appeler le Conseil National des Fang, qui prétendait se réunir ce samedi avé pour mission d’excommunier un compatriote de cette ethnie pour avoir tenu des propos désobligeants envers CBON.

Il s'agit très clairement d'une announce conçue spécifiquement pour créer la polémique, susciter l'indignation ou faire rire à travers l'absurde.

L'affiche indique « Conseils nation » (au lieu de Conseil national) et « se réuni » (au lieu de se réunit). Ce sont les marqueurs classiques et quasi systématiques des contenus amateurs créés à la va-vite pour les réseaux sociaux.

Il n'existe aucune instance légale, coutumière ou républicaine reconnue qui s'appellerait le « Conseil national de l'ethnie Fang » et qui aurait le pouvoir de bannir un citoyen de son appartenance ethnique. C'est un non-sens total qui joue sur les clichés du tribalisme.

Sur internet, la frontière entre la satire politique, le trolling (la provocation gratuite) et la désinformation dangereuse est souvent très poreuse. Ces contenus sont malheureusement tolérés par les algorithmes des plateformes parce qu'ils génèrent énormément d'engagement (commentaires indignés, partages, débats passionnés). 

L'objectif du créateur de cette image n'est pas d'informer, mais d'attirer l'attention en surfant sur une actualité racoleuse.

La meilleure façon de lutter contre ces âneries est souvent de refuser de leur donner la visibilité qu'elles recherchent, et en les déconstruisant factuellement.
