VERY SELECTIVE INDIGNATION! INDIGNATION TRÈS SÉLECTIVE!

The contrast is quite striking between the passivity observed yesterday—when a certain Bitome, an overzealous supporter of CBON, profusely insulted Albert Ondo-Ossa (élang e ne w’ossi) and his mother (con de ta mère), simply because the associate professor of economics had the audacity to criticize the frantic race into debt that CBON had embarked upon, and today's hyper-reactivity following remarks made by a Gabonese citizen from the diaspora against CBON. This perfectly illustrates how certain Gabonese react to criticism or invective.

The sense of hypocrisy felt by this blog is all the more acute given that the public outcry we are witnessing this August 2026 is massive and institutionalized.

Following the remarks made by this compatriot, the official reaction has been swift and severe:

• Government Intervention: The Minister of Communication, Germain Biahodjow, held a press briefing on August 12 to express the government's deep indignation over these insults, calling on the justice system to take action.

• Institutional Censorship: The High Authority for Communication (HAC) struck hard by suspending the online media outlet Infos 241 until further notice, simply for relaying the remarks in question.

• Political Mobilization: Paulette Missambo's National Union, along with various citizens' collectives, quickly published press releases condemning these excesses and calling for an end to "verbal insalubrity."

And yet, this moralizing fervor and scrupulous respect for human dignity were nowhere to be found when Bitome-Effayong unleashed his insults aimed at Prof. Albert Ondo Ossa and his mother.

At the time, the Republic's censors demonstrated a highly convenient deafness and blindness. In the face of attacks targeting the main opposition candidate of 2023, there was:

• No expedited suspension by the HAC.
• No ministerial press briefing to defend the honor of a citizen or their family.
• No solemn indignation over safeguarding public debate.

This double standard highlights a persistent flaw in institutional governance: selective sacralization.

Honor seems to be absolutely protected by institutions only when it concerns figures embodying supreme power.

As long as the condemnation of invective and the application of rules (like those of the HAC) depend on the identity and political camp of the target rather than the intrinsic severity of the remarks, calls to "elevate the level of public debate" will struggle to mask this reality: regulatory institutions still act too often as the exclusive shields of the executive branch, rather than as the impartial referees of the Republic.

Le contraste est assez saisissant entre la passivité observée hier, quand un certain Bitome, soutien hyper zélé de CBON, a copieusement insulté Albert Ondo-Ossa ( élang e ne w’ossi) et sa mère (con de ta mère); tout simplement parce que l’agrégé en économie avait eu l’outrecuidance de critiquer la course à l’endettement effréné dans laquelle s’était lancée CBON; et l'hyper-réactivité d'aujourd'hui suite aux propos tenus par un Gabonais de la diaspora, envers CBON.  Ceci illustre parfaitement le fonctionnement de certains Gabonais face à la critique ou à l'invective.

Le sentiment d'hypocrisie qu’éprouve ce blog est d'autant plus vif que la levée de boucliers à laquelle nous assistons en ce mois d'août 2026 est massive et institutionnalisée.

Suite aux propos tenus par ce compatriote, la réaction officielle a été foudroyante :

• Intervention gouvernementale : Le ministre de la Communication, Germain Biahodjow, a tenu un point de presse le 12 août pour exprimer la profonde indignation du gouvernement face à ces outrages, appelant la justice à sévir.
  
• Censure institutionnelle : La Haute Autorité de la Communication (HAC) a frappé fort en suspendant le média en ligne Infos 241 jusqu'à nouvel ordre, simplement pour avoir relayé les propos en question.
  
• Mobilisation politique : L'Union Nationale de Paulette Missambo, ainsi que divers collectifs citoyens, ont rapidement publié des communiqués pour condamner ces dérives et appeler à stopper « l'insalubrité verbale ».

Pourtant, cette ferveur moralisatrice et ce respect scrupuleux de la dignité humaine étaient aux abonnés absents lorsque Bitome-Effayong a déversé ses insultes visant le Pr. Albert Ondo Ossa et sa mère.

À l'époque, les censeurs de la République avaient fait preuve d'une surdité et d'une cécité fort pratiques. Face aux attaques visant le principal candidat de l'opposition de 2023, on n'a observé :

• Aucune suspension expéditive par la HAC.
  
• Aucun point de presse ministériel pour défendre l'honneur d'un citoyen ou de sa famille.
• Aucune indignation solennelle sur la sauvegarde du débat public.

Ce deux poids, deux mesures met en lumière une faille persistante dans la gouvernance institutionnelle : la sacralisation sélective. 

L'honneur semble n'être protégé de manière absolue par les institutions que lorsqu'il s'agit de figures incarnant le pouvoir suprême.

Tant que la condamnation de l'invective et l'application des règles (comme celles de la HAC) dépendront de l'identité et du camp politique de la cible plutôt que de la gravité intrinsèque du propos, les appels à « hausser le niveau du débat public » peineront à masquer cette réalité : les institutions de régulation agissent encore trop souvent comme les boucliers exclusifs de l'exécutif, plutôt que comme les arbitres impartiaux de la République.
