Gabon's state media, despite having a mandate to serve the public interest, are notorious for their glaring lack of editorial independence, even when it comes to serving that public interest.

 

Gabon's state media are too closely tied to the government, undermining their ability to critically report on what is happening in the country.

 

How can we understand that no state media in Gabon has given to the population the information about the exfiltration of the Bongo-Valentin from Gabon to Angola? L’Union even took the liberty of denying this information as you can see above, before finally changing its mind once this information was validated by the international media.

 

This situation is sad and indicates how much work is ahead for us.

Les médias d'État au Gabon, bien qu'ayant pour mandat de servir l'intérêt public, sont remarquables par leur manque criard d'indépendance éditoriale, même lorsqu’il s’agit de servir cet intérêt public.

 

Les médias d'État au Gabon sont trop étroitement liés au pouvoir, ce qui compromet leur capacité à rendre compte de manière critique de ce qui se passe dans le pays.

 

Comment comprendre qu’aucun media d’Etat au Gabon n’a donné à la population l’information de l’exfiltration des Bongo-Valentin du Gabon vers l’Angola. L’Union s’est même permis de démentir cette information comme vous pouvez le constater ci-dessus, avant de finalement se raviser une fois que cette information fut validée par les media internationaux.

 

Cette situation est triste et indique le chemin qui nous reste à parcourir.
