In France, the creation of a political party is free and governed by the 1901 law on associations. Here are the conditions that must be met:

 

•             Provide the title of the association;

•             Indicate its purpose;

•             Indicate the address of its registered office;

•             Indicate the names, professions, residences and nationalities of the persons responsible for its administration;

•             Provide a copy of the articles of association signed by at least two persons in charge of administration;

•             Present a report of the constituent assembly.

 

Some will say that France is in Europe and Gabon is in Africa; and we will tell them that in order to create a political party in Botswana, here are the conditions to be met:

 

·         A group needs to register as a legal entity under the Societies Act.

·         Send an application to the Registrar of Societies

·         The application must include a constitution, rules, regulations, and a prescribed fee.

·         The application must be submitted in triplicate, signed by two office-bearers of the society.

 

Botswana has 10 political parties with 6 of them represented in the parliament. As of 2023, Botswana was ranked as the number 2 best democracies in Africa, after Mauritius; and the number 4 among the best run countries in Africa.

 

By comparison, using Mo Ibrahim Index for 2024, Gabon is number 32 in Africa for best governance, and number 42 in Africa for democracy.

En France la création d'un parti politique est libre et régit par la loi de 1901 sur les associations. Voici les conditions qu’il faut remplir :

 

·         Fournir le titre de l’association ;

·         Indiquer son objet ;

·         Indiquer l'adresse de son siège social ;

·         Indiquer les noms, professions, domiciles et nationalités des personnes chargées de son administration ;

·         Fournir un exemplaire des statuts signés par au moins deux personnes en charge de l’administration ;

·         Présenter un compte-rendu de l’assemblée constitutive.

 

Certains diront que la France c’est en Europe et le Gabon c’est en Afrique ; et nous leur répondront que pour créer un parti politique au Botswana, voici les conditions à remplir :

 

•             Un groupe doit se faire enregistrer en tant qu'entité juridique en vertu de la loi sur les associations.

•             Envoyer une demande au registraire des associations

•             La demande doit inclure une constitution, des règlements et des frais d’inscription.

•             La demande doit être soumise en trois exemplaires, signés par deux membres du bureau de l’association.

 

Le Botswana compte 10 partis politiques, dont 6 sont représentés au parlement. En 2023, le Botswana était classé numéro 2 des meilleures démocraties d'Afrique, après l’Ile Maurice ; et numéro 4 parmi les pays les mieux gérés d'Afrique en termes de gouvernance.

 

En comparaison, en utilisant l'indice Mo Ibrahim pour 2024, le Gabon est numéro 32 en Afrique pour la gouvernance, et numéro 42 en Afrique pour la démocratie.
