      English version   The Gabonese Minister of Oil, Vincent de Paul Massassa, has recently introduced into the Gabonese amended finance law that was formalized on August 19, 2022, a so-called fiscal stability clauses to be signed between the Gabonese State and oil companies, which would now be reviewed every five years.   According to these new clauses, no oil company will have the assurance of the renewal of its stability clause. They will have to renegotiate this every five years with the Ministry of Petroleum. Previously, any oil contract in Gabon contained a stability clause stipulating that taxation could not change during the term of the contract. The ongoing contracts of oil companies already established in Gabon - Perenco, TotalEnergies, Assala Energy, Maurel & Prom, Tullow Oil - would apparently not be subject to this new rule.
