THE INTOLERABLY CONTRACDICTORY POSITION OF GUY NZOUBA-NDAMA. LA POSITION INTOLERABLEMENT CONTRADICTOIRE DE GUY-NZOUBA

In his interview with the journal Le Point Afrique, Guy Nzouba-Ndama said the following:

"I think very often in Africa, the opposition fails for being over-optimistic. They think that it is enough to say this or that for things to change. There is a camp which is asking Ali Bongo Ondimba for a compliant birth certificate. The other thinks we should go to the election even if we have to ask the Gabonese people to punish him at the polls. Both have their reasons. The President of the Republic declared himself during an interview with RFI that he provided a false birth certificate in 2009. He was sworn in on the constitution and vowed to respect the rule of law. He confessed to have committed forgery of public documents. He should draw the consequences. If Ali Bongo truly loves his country as he said, he should understand that he has created a problem for his country and withdraw from the race instead of putting the country into conflict because of his own actions and his political ambitions. For me, if the Gabonese justice system says that the birth of Ali Bongo Ondimba is compliant, therefore he is permitted to run for a second term as head of state, I will not refuse to participate in the race. I know this is what will happen; therefore, let us go to the election and explain to the Gabonese people that the time has come for change."

For us, Guy Nzouba-Ndama’s reasoning is seriously problematic because on the one hand he says clearly that Ali Bongo submitted a false document for the 2009 presidential election; and on the other he concludes that if Ali Bongo was allowed to run for president in 2016, he would go to the election against him.

This position is deeply contradictory because if one was President of the National Assembly of a country, one should know that the powers of the National Assembly are mainly of two types: voting laws and controlling the Government action. Therefore, an individual who uses false documents to stand at the head of the country, should be immediately and consistently repudiated by someone who was President of the National Assembly, because it is the whole nation that is violated. When Guy Nzouba-Ndama said he would go to the election against Ali Bongo if his application is approved, this means that he admits that the crime committed by Ali Bongo against Gabon is not serious and depends on the interpretation that the Ali Bongo’s justice system would make of it. This blog says no! The crime committed by Ali Bongo is for us so fundamental that he cannot be allowed to stand for election; and anyone suggesting going to run against Ali Bongo if his application is approved, seems suspicious to us.

We must give to Guy Nzouba-Ndama the latitude to explain and better express his position. The next few days should enlighten us; but for now, we say no because this message is not for us!

Dans son interview au journal Le Point Afrique, Guy Nzouba-Ndama dit ce qui suit :

« Je pense que bien souvent en Afrique, les opposants pèchent par excès d'optimisme. Ils pensent qu'il suffit de dire ceci ou d'exiger cela pour changer les choses. Il y a un camp qui exige un acte de naissance conforme à Ali Bongo Ondimba. L'autre pense qu'il faut aller aux élections quitte à demander aux Gabonais de le sanctionner par les urnes. Les uns et les autres ont leurs raisons. Le président de la République a déclaré lui-même au cours d'une interview à RFI qu'il a fourni un faux acte de naissance en 2009. Il a prêté serment sur la constitution et a juré de respecter l'état de droit. Il a avoué avoir fait usage de faux en écriture publique. Il devrait tirer les conséquences. Si Ali Bongo aime véritablement son pays comme il le dit, il devrait comprendre qu'il a créé un problème à son pays et se retirer de la course au lieu de mettre le pays en conflit en raison de ses propres actes et de ses ambitions politiques. Pour moi, si la justice gabonaise dit que l'acte de naissance d'Ali Bongo Ondimba est conforme, donc l'autorise à briguer un second mandat à la tête de l'Etat, je ne vais pas refuser de participer à la course. Je sais que c'est ce qui va se passer donc, allons aux élections et expliquons aux gabonais que le temps est venu pour l'alternance. »

Pour nous, le raisonnement de Guy Nzouba-Ndama est sérieusement problématique, car d’un côté il affirme clairement qu’Ali Bongo a présenté un faux document pour l’élection présidentielle 2009 ; et de l’autre il conclut que si Ali Bongo était autorisé à se présenter à la présidentielle 2016, il irait à l’élection contre lui.

Cette position est profondément contradictoire car si l’on a été président de l’Assemblée nationale d’un pays, on devrait savoir que les pouvoirs de l'Assemblée nationale sont principalement de deux ordres : le vote des lois et le contrôle de l’action du Gouvernement. Par conséquent, un individu qui utilise des faux documents pour se porter à la tête du pays, devrait être immédiatement et systématiquement répudié par quelqu’un qui a été président de l’assemblée nationale, car c’est la nation toute entière qui est violée. Quand Guy Nzouba-Ndama dit qu’il irait à l’élection contre Ali Bongo si sa candidature est validée, c’est qu’il avoue que le crime commis par Ali Bongo contre le Gabon, n’est qu’aléatoire et dépend de l’interprétation qu’en fait la justice aux ordres d’Ali Bongo. Ce blog dit non ! Le crime commis par Ali Bongo est pour nous si fondamental, qu’il ne saurait être autorisé à se présenter à l’élection ; et toute personne suggérant aller se présenter contre Ali Bongo si sa candidature est validée, nous parait suspecte.

Nous devons accorder à Guy Nzouba-Ndama la latitude de s’expliquer et de mieux exprimer sa position. Les prochains jours devraient nous éclairer ; mais pour le moment, nous disons non car ce message n’est pas pour nous!
