The signs are there in front of us. Only the willfully blind still refuse to see them. The many palpable frustrations of the Gabonese are the result of their disenchantment with this regime that governs them and therefore with all that it embodies.

 

In the cottages, Gabonese make a mockery of Ali Bongo, a head of state not only illegitimate, but practically invisible since his stroke in 2018. He is no more than a parody of a Head of State in the minds of citizens.

 

The regime is trying to hide this derision, by the repressive apparatus and the deployment of an important propaganda system reminding the Gabonese that Ali Bongo exists. From there, calls for Ali Bongo’s candidacy to succeed himself, by people like Franck Nguema, increasingly resonate as an insult to the dignity of the Gabonese people. This servility in the face of deception no longer impresses anyone in Gabon and everyone knows the result of such attitudes after 55 years of this regime.

 

Who says imposture necessarily speaks of fraud, of nefarious practices in which one takes refuge to maintain the illusion. Since 1967, the Bongos have not stopped promising the Gabonese people that thanks to them, Gabon would go from a peasant country to an industrial country. That our countryside and villages would become modern cities; that our muddy and tortuous roads would be rectified, widened and paved. That there would be a school and a university for every student who would bother to want to study; and that each patient will have a hospital responding to their ailments. What about the power lines that would illuminate the entire territory?

 

Dear readers, planning and achieving all this is a challenge that does not adapt well to impostor and lack of seriousness. That’s why, after 55 years of power, the Bongos no longer amuse us!

Les signes sont là devant nous. Seuls les volontairement aveugles refusent encore de les voir. Les nombreuses frustrations palpables des Gabonais sont le fruit de leur désenchantement vis-à-vis de ce régime qui les dirige et par conséquent de tout ce qu’il incarne.

 

Dans les chaumières, les Gabonais tournent en dérision la figure d’Ali Bongo, un chef d’Etat non seulement illégitime, mais pratiquement invisible depuis son AVC en 2018. Il n’est plus qu’une parodie de Chef d’Etat dans l’esprit des citoyens.

 

Le régime tente de masquer cette dérision, par l’appareil répressif et le déploiement d’un dispositif de propagande important rappelant au Gabonais qu’Ali Bongo existe. Partant de là, les appels à la candidature d’Ali Bongo pour se succéder à lui-même, par des gens comme Franck Nguema, résonnent de plus en plus comme une insulte à la dignité du peuple Gabonais. Cette servilité face à l’imposture n’impressionne plus personne au Gabon et tout le monde connait le résultat de telles attitudes après 55 ans de pouvoir.

 

Qui dit imposture parle forcément de fraude, de pratiques dilatoires dans lesquelles on se réfugie pour entretenir l’illusion. Les Bongo n’arrêtent pas depuis 1967 de promettre aux Gabonais que grâce à eux, le Gabon passerait de pays de paysans en pays industriel. Que nos bourgades villageoises deviendraient des villes modernes ; que nos chemins boueux et tortueux seraient rectifiés, élargies et bitumés. Qu’il y aurait école et université pour chaque élève qui se donnerait la peine de vouloir étudier ; et que chaque malade aura hôpital répondant à ses maux. Que dire des lignes électriques qui illumineraient tout le territoire ?

 

Chers lecteurs, planifier et réaliser tout ceci est un défi qui s’accommode mal de l’imposture et du manque de sérieux. Voici pourquoi, après 55 ans de pouvoir, les Bongo ne nous amusent plus !
