In Gabon we have just witnessed a very worrying situation that saw a woman, an employee of CNSS as an auditor, being kidnapped in broad daylight in front of the headquarters of this parastatal company, sequestered for several hours, then brought back to the same place naked and traumatized. All this, without the attackers being worried.

 

Dear readers, who in Gabon can afford to act like this with impunity? For this blog, there is no doubt that these repeated kidnappings and intimidations come from members of the regime themselves who operate via their paramilitary groups to harass the intractable.

 

These intimidation campaigns are also proof that the regime has no desire for its pseudo-reforms to succeed, because this regime cannot reform itself and risk scuttling itself by eliminating its own way of subsistence. It uses the administrative apparatus to announce reforms, and the judiciary that is supposed to be independent and impartial, to announce investigations; but in the end, invariably and repeatedly, neither the announced reforms nor the promised investigations lead to the expected outcomes. What's more, compatriots who want to know more by doing real field work, find themselves attacked and intimidated like this lady of CNSS.

 

The government, which wants to present an honorable face on its international façade and a positive record to donors in terms of fundamental freedoms and good governance, must announce these reforms and investigations. But what they say during the day, they hurry and strive to suffocate at night.

 

Dear readers, we must all refuse the enclosure in which the regime is trying to lock us. We join all organizations, political, associative, human rights, and others, in expressing our solidarity and condemn this aggression and kidnapping against our compatriots of CNSS.

Au Gabon nous venons d’assister à une situation très inquiétante qui a vu une dame, employée de la CNSS au poste d’auditrice, être enlevée en plein jour devant le siège de cette entreprise parapublique, séquestrée pendant plusieurs heures, puis ramenée au même endroit toute nue et traumatisée. Tout ceci, sans que les assaillants ne soient inquiétés.

 

Chers lecteurs, qui au Gabon peut se permettre d’agir de la sorte en toute impunité ? Pour ce blog, il n’y a aucun doute que ces enlèvements et intimidations répétées, viennent des membres du régime eux-mêmes qui actionnent leurs groupes paramilitaires pour harasser les récalcitrants.

 

Ces campagnes d’intimidation sont aussi la preuve que le régime ne veut aucunement que ses pseudo-réformes aboutissent, car ce régime ne peut se réformer lui-même et risquer de se saborder en éliminant sa propre raison d’être. Il utilise l’appareil administratif pour annoncer des reformes, et l’appareil judiciaire censé être indépendant et impartial, pour annoncer des enquêtes ; mais à la fin, invariablement et à répétition, ni les reformes annoncées, ni les enquêtes promises, ne connaissent les dénouements attendus. Qui plus est, les compatriotes qui veulent en savoir plus en faisant un véritable travail de terrain, se retrouvent agressés et intimidés comme cette dame de la CNSS.

 

Le pouvoir, qui veut présenter un visage honorable sur sa façade internationale et un bilan positif aux bailleurs de fonds en matière de libertés fondamentales et bonnes gouvernances, se doit d’annoncer ces reformes et enquêtes. Mais ce qu’il dit le jours, il s’empresse et s’acharne à l’étouffer la nuit.

 

Chers lecteurs, nous devons tous refuser le huis clos dans lequel le régime tente de nous enfermer. Nous nous joignons à toutes les organisations, politiques, associatives, des droits de l’homme, et autres, pour exprimer notre solidarité et leur condamner cette agression et séquestration contre compatriotes de la CNSS.
