When two of our compatriots went to interrupt the sell of a Bieri symbol at Sotheby’s recently, we all saw the paternalistic attitude of those who keep the majority of our continent’s cultural artefacts out of the hands of their rightful owners. These people actually think that african objects are better off in western museums where they are preserved “properly” in air-conditioned galleries.
