The Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema International University was inaugurated this Thursday, September 10, 2026, in Cap Estérias, by the person of the same name.

According to the Gabonese press, this is the first university dedicated to hospitality and tourism, with programs covering hospitality trades, catering, tourism, biodiversity, and management.

The campus reportedly has an announced capacity of nearly 4,000 students, with 48 classrooms, a 384-seat auditorium, a library, and 152 student rooms.

Other fields of study targeted include digital technology, renewable energy, finance, and education.

Initiated in 2008 at the instigation of Omar Bongo Ondimba, the project was halted for nearly fifteen years before being relaunched in 2024.

The institution will officially begin operating with the 2026-2027 academic year.

This institution aims to attract students and academic partnerships from Africa and beyond, positioning Gabon as a regional training hub in Central Africa.

L'Université Internationale Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema a été inaugurée ce jeudi 10 septembre 2026 au Cap Estérias, par la personne du même nom.

Mais une université est bien plus que des bâtiments ; c’est surtout un contenu. Que propose donc cette université ?

D’après la presse gabonaise, il s'agit de la première université dédiée à l'hôtellerie et au tourisme, avec des programmes portant sur les métiers de l'hôtellerie, la restauration, le tourisme, la biodiversité et le management.

Le campus disposerait d'une capacité annoncée de près de 4000 étudiants, avec 48 salles de classe, un amphithéâtre de 384 places, une bibliothèque et 152 chambres pour les étudiants.

Les autres domaines d’études visés incluent le numérique, les énergies renouvelables, la finance et l'éducation.

Initié en 2008 sous l'impulsion d’Omar Bongo Ondimba, le projet avait été interrompu pendant près de quinze ans avant d'être relancé en 2024.

L'établissement entrera officiellement en activité dès la rentrée académique 2026-2027. 

Cet établissement ambitionne d'attirer des étudiants et des partenariats académiques venus d'Afrique et d'ailleurs, positionnant le Gabon comme un pôle régional de formation en Afrique Centrale.

Ça c’est ce qui est écrit sur les prospectus en papier glacé. La vérité s’apprécie quand il faudra évaluer les conditions d’études sur le terrain.
