English version  Gabon’s new census (RGPL 2026), validated by the Constitutional Court in late August 2026, set the population at 3,518,621 inhabitants, a 94% increase over 13 years compared to the 2013 census figure of 1,811,079.  A growth rate of 94% over a fixed time of 13 years is unheard of; here’s why: At the world’s current average growth rate (~0.9%/year), doubling and near-doubling take a long time: a 94% growth would take roughly 74 years at that rate. At the fastest sustained national growth rates ever recorded in the entire world (3.5–3.9%/year, seen in a handful of countries like Niger or Chad, driven by very high fertility), 94% growth would take about 18–20 years. At the peak of global population growth (the 1960s–70s, when the world grew around 2.1%/year), it would take about 32 years to grow by 94%. So where does Gabon’s claimed jump land?
