Dear readers, what is happening in Brazil a few days before the opening of the great global party that is the Football World Cup, is simply outstanding. In a movement that puts the national interest ahead of passing ambitions and positions of small pleasures and celebrations, many Brazilians and a large part of the intelligentsia of that country, are openly questioning the financial cost of this event. However, dear readers, we all know that Brazilian society is very passionate about football, and that Brazil is not a poor country, but a rapidly emerging country with a booming economy. However, its people, that great people, would have preferred by a margin of 70% according to recent polls, that the money allocated for the world cup be used for expenditures on health, education and security. For the Brazilians, the people do not need a world cup if not all that is important has not been satisfied. It is not football as such, nor the World Cup that the Brazilians are boycotting, as paradoxical as it may seem, but the choices of their leaders to prioritize prestige spending over more projects more fundamental to society. Chers lecteurs, ce qui se passe au Brésil à quelques jours de l’ouverture de la grande fête planétaire qu’est la coupe du monde de football, est tout simplement remarquable. Néanmoins, ce peuple, ce grand peuple, aurait préféré à 70% selon les derniers sondages, que l’argent alloué à la coupe du monde soit utilisé pour les dépenses de santé, d’éducation et de sécurité. Pour ces Brésiliens, le peuple n’a pas besoin d’un mondial s’il n’a pas tout ce qui est primordial. Ce n’est le football en tant que tel, ni la coupe du monde que boycottent les Brésiliens, aussi paradoxal que cela puisse sembler, mais les choix de leur dirigeant à privilégier les dépenses de prestige à celles plus fondamentales à la société. Il est patriotique de s’indigner, de s’exaspérer, devant le gaspillage de l’argent public.
Chers lecteurs, le peuple Gabonais pourrait apprendre beaucoup du peuple Brésilien. Combien sont-ils au Gabon à questionner le forum d’Attias, en dehors des Indignés ? Combien sont-ils à s’interroger ouvertement sur les choix ludiques d’Ali Bongo quant aux dépenses de trésorerie nationale?
