Our friends of Gabonreview wonder if the debate about the relevance of a dialogue between the regime and the opposition should not be elevated. Very well! But for this blog, the problem is not that we the Gabonese people are discussing the private lives of some actors wanting to go to dialogue with Ali Bongo; but these people who claim to be for a dialogue with Ali Bongo have offered no argument calling for a high level of intellectual debate! Let us explain.

When René Ndemezo'Obiang of Démocratie Nouvelle, made his declaration of participation in Ali Bongo’s dialogue, his argument could be summarized in this single point: "the election is over, we all must find ourselves around a table to discuss!" You will agree with us that for someone who was the campaign manager of the one who is universally recognized as having won the most votes, and whose headquarters was bombed with war weapons by Ali Bongo; such a lame statement is surprising! René Ndemezo'Obiang did not even have the decency to care about these dead Gabonese who perished for believing in the value of their vote. When he says that the election is behind us, could he tell us what has been settled and agreed upon to allow him to make such a claim? We are not here in the high thematic reasoning, unfortunately. To tell people to line up and march, without giving them an explanation about the destination, may be good in the army, but not for a discussion of ideas!

When Jonathan Ndoutoume-Ngome says that participating in this dialogue with Ali Bongo would be the way out of the crisis in which the nation is mired, but without telling us exactly how this dialogue would lead to an end of the crisis; without telling us what he is willing to negotiate; he cannot be taken seriously! We have asked specific questions to Mr. Jonathan Ndoutoume-Ngome about this dialogue, and until today, he has not responded.

As for Mike Jocktane, what we have read of him on this subject can fit in one line, that is to say no real substance. He also said that negotiations are the way out of crisis. It is a thin argument.

Dear readers, when one wants to elevate the debate, they should make sure to provide the Gabonese people with ingredients establishing the foundation for this elevation of the debate. To just tell people: "Ali Bongo is in power, the election is over, we must negotiate," is too simplistic for this blog. They take shortcuts, and the people also show them that they could take better shortcuts; and perhaps this is why the Gabonese people are hitting below the belt.

Nos amis de Gabonreview se demandent s’il ne faille pas élever le débat concernant la pertinence d’un dialogue entre le pouvoir et l’opposition. Très bien ! Mais pour ce blog, le problème n’est pas que nous les gabonais discutions de la vie privée de certains acteurs voulant aller au dialogue avec Ali Bongo ; mais que ces personnes s’étant déclarées pour le dialogue d’Ali Bongo ne nous ont proposé aucun argumentaire appelant à un débat d’idées de niveau élevé ! Nous nous expliquons.

Quand René Ndemezo’Obiang de Démocratie Nouvelle, a fait sa déclaration de participation au dialogue d’Ali Bongo, son argument s’est résumé en cet unique point : « l’élection est finie, nous devons tous nous retrouver autour d’une table pour discuter ! » Vous conviendrez avec nous que pour quelqu’un qui a été le directeur de campagne de celui qui est universellement reconnu comme ayant remporté le plus de suffrages, et dont le QG a été bombardé à l’arme de guerre par Ali Bongo ; une telle sortie est d’un terre à terre surprenant ! René Ndemezo’Obiang n’a même pas la décence de se soucier de ces Gabonais morts pour avoir cru en la valeur de leur suffrage. Quand il dit que l’élection est derrière nous, qu’ils nous disent ce qui a été réglé et épongé pour lui permettre de faire une telle affirmation? Nous ne sommes pas ici dans la haute voltige thématique, malheureusement. Dire aux gens de se mettre en rang et de marcher au pas, sans leur donner d’explication sur la destination, c’est peut-être bon dans l’armée, mais pas pour le débat d’idées !

Quand Jonathan Ndoutoume-Ngome vient dire que la participation à ce dialogue avec Ali Bongo serait la voie de sortie de l’impasse dans laquelle se trouve la nation, mais sans nous dire exactement comment ce dialogue aboutirait à une fin de crise ; sans nous dire ce qu’il est prêt à négocier ; on ne peut pas le prendre au sérieux ! Nous avons posé des questions précises à M. Jonathan Ndoutoume-Ngome à propos de ce dialogue, et jusqu’aujourd’hui, il n’y a pas répondu.

Quand à Mike Jocktane, ce que nous avons lu de lui sur ce point tiendrait sur une ligne, c'est-à-dire pas grande substance. Lui aussi dit aller aux négociations pour sortir de la crise. C’est maigre comme argument.

Chers lecteurs, quand on veut élever le débat, on s’assure de fournir aux Gabonais des ingrédients permettant d’établir les bases de cette élévation du débat. Venir dire aux gens : «Ali Bongo est au pouvoir, l’élection est finie, on doit négocier », est trop réducteur pour ce blog. A réducteur, réducteur et demi, et c’est peut-être pourquoi les gabonais tapent en dessous de la ceinture.
