On 8 May 2015, Fitch Rating agency announced that it had downgraded Gabon's rating to 'B+' from 'BB-'. The agency explained that this downgrading was due to the decline in Gabon's oil production and that Gabon cannot rely on its production to offset the impact of price shocks. The agency said that the diversification of the economy away from oil is slow, and is likely to be negatively impacted by the scaling-down of the public investment program. Fitch views the public finance management of Gabon as a weakness and that given the magnitude of the planned fiscal adjustment, further accumulation of arrears by Gabon is likely. Fitch expects a fiscal deficit of about 3.5% in 2015, followed by further deficits in the coming years.

But while Fitch was concerned about the state of the Gabonese economy, Ali Bongo however cared in his way; by giving himself a new jet, a Gulfstream G650 at a cost of about 40 billion CFA francs! The airplane is ready for the reception as shown in the picture above. In the economic circumstances of the country, a new jet is definitely what Gabon needed most!

Le 8 mai 2015, l'agence de notation Fitch a annoncé qu'elle abaissé la note du Gabon à «B+», de «BB-». L'agence a expliqué que cet abaissement était dû à la chute de la production de pétrole du Gabon et que le pays ne pouvait pas compter sur sa production pour compenser l'impact des chocs de la baisse du prix du baril. L'agence a déclaré que la diversification de l'économie hors pétrole est lente, et est susceptible d'être impactée négativement par la mise en veilleuse du programme d'investissement public. Fitch considère la gestion des finances publiques du Gabon comme une faiblesse et qu’étant donné l'ampleur de l'ajustement budgétaire prévu, l'accumulation d’arriérés de paiement par le Gabon est probable. Fitch prévoit un déficit budgétaire d'environ 3,5% en 2015, suivie par d'autres déficits dans les années à venir.

Mais pendant que l’agence Fitch se souciait de l’état de l’économie gabonaise, Ali Bongo lui s’en souciait à sa manière ; c'est-à-dire en allant s’offrir un nouveau jet, un GulfStream G650 au coût d'environ 40 milliards de FCFA! L’avion est fin prêt pour la réception comme l’indique la photo ci-dessus. Dans les circonstances économiques du pays, un nouveau jet est certainement ce dont le Gabon avait le plus besoin !
