 A serious country is one that exhibits certain characteristics of perceived stability, both politically and economically, long-term strategic planning, and responsible governance. In Gabon, yesterday, Brice Clotaire Oligui-Nguema announced that he would run for president. He gave a speech in which he spoke of his accomplishments in the past 18th months; but nothing about what matters most for the future: the responsible governance and what would the Gabon of the future look like? Nothing strategic, everything was just saying I am going to be president; that it!

Un pays sérieux en est un qui présente certaines caractéristiques de stabilité perçue, tant sur le plan politique qu'économique, de planification stratégique à long terme et de gouvernance responsable. Au Gabon, hier, Brice Clotaire Oligui-Nguema a annoncé qu'il serait candidat à la présidence. Il a prononcé un discours dans lequel il a parlé de ses réalisations au cours des 18 derniers mois ; mais rien sur ce qui compte le plus pour l'avenir : la gouvernance responsable et à quoi ressemblerait le Gabon de demain ? Rien de stratégique, il disait juste que « je vais être président » ; rien que ça !
