The momentum for the Sovereign National Conference continues to build. This past week, the first Prime Minister named by Ali Bongo declared himself in favor of such a conference. Similarly, the group called ACR which is made of a coalition of opposition parties also came out in favor of the conference. About 10 days ago, Rene Ndemezo'Obiang who had been a loyal member of the PDG, also came out for the conference. It seems that today, only a group of dead ender hawks around Ali Bongo are still opposed to what everybody now sees as inevitable.

This week, the opposition at large announced that it would be meeting from 7 to 9 of September 2012 in the southern city of Mouila, to work on an agreement that would be presented later about their call for a Sovereign National Conference. This is a political meeting that would be a precursor to the Sovereign National Conference. But a political agreement can be well and good; however without a strong intellectual reasoning giving content to the political posture of the Sovereign National Conference, this blog is afraid that any political agreement would unfortunately fall short.

Therefore, this blog is calling for the elaboration of a strong set of intellectual principles which would be the underpinning of that Sovereign National Conference. Unfortunately, to this day, this blog is aware of only 2 Gabonese intellectuals who have shared their thoughts openly about what the Sovereign National Conference should and should not be; they are: Guilou Bitsutsu-Gielessen and Daniel Mengara. This blog is of the opinion that it would be desirable that more voices who purport to be thinkers of the Gabonese political process, reveal their thoughts and recommendations. It would be a tragedy to go to the Sovereign National Conference with no clear set of goals and objectives. When the future of their country is at stake, most Gabonese should know what is being proposed by whom and for which purpose? The movement "Ça Suffit Comme Ça" is extremely efficient and has done an herculean work in moving this cause forward, but the Civil Society cannot do everything and the intellectual class, the scholars, must come out of their shell and their ivory tower. It is a shame that in Gabon, the learned class is following instead of leading!

Those who read us everyday or even often, already know that this blog is for a Sovereign National Conference that would have as objective the demise of the Bongo regime. Anything else would be considered a shortcoming by this blog. The reason for this very definitive position is that the Ali Bongo regime as defined and expressed itself as a punisher of the Gabonese people; as a regime hell bent in inflicting intolerable miseries upon the people. The irony or the calamity lived by the Gabonese people is that it is we who furnish to the Bongos, the means by which they make us suffer. Their palaces are purchased and built upon the ruins of our schools, hospitals, roads, bridges etc. Their arrogance is build upon our cowardly and silly obedience to their injunction. Their cruelty is build upon our tendency to surrender to them, our human and fundamental rights.

Dear readers, we ask for a Sovereign national conference that would lead to the demise of the Bongo regime, because it is time for Gabon to be led by people who are provided with a popular mandate to exercise the wishes of the population; by people who are supposed to have the same concerns for the country than those have who appoint them through free and fair elections. Unfortunately, in Gabon today, the rulers meaning the Bongos form to themselves an interest group separate from the population and pursuing their own goals of staying in power for ever. This is unacceptable and must be stopped here and now. Gabon must give itself leaders who are going to be expected to show fidelity to the population. The people of Gabon are suffering, they know the head from which their suffering springs; they know likewise the remedy; and should not therefore be bewildered by a supposedly variety of causes and cures. The principal cure is to do away with the Bongos and rebuild a different Gabon under different principles. The Sovereign National Conference should take Gabon away from the monarchical tyranny and the pseudo aristocratical tyranny the Bongos are so found of. If this can be achieved, it would be a big success for Gabon!

La dynamique de la Conférence Nationale Souveraine continue à s'amplifier. La semaine dernière, le premier chef de gouvernement nommé par Ali Bongo s'est prononcé en faveur d'une telle conférence. De même, le groupe appelé ACR qui se compose d'une coalition de partis d'opposition, aussi s'est prononcé en faveur de cette conférence. Environ 10 jours plus tôt, René Ndemezo'Obiang qui a toujours été un membre loyal du PDG, s'est dit également favorable à la conférence. Il semble qu'aujourd'hui, seul un groupe de faucons jusqu'au boutistes autour d'Ali Bongo, reste toujours opposé à ce que tout le monde perçoit maintenant comme inévitable.

Cette semaine, l'opposition dans son ensemble a annoncé qu'elle allait se réunir du 7 au 9 Septembre 2012 dans la ville méridionale de Mouila, afin de travailler sur un accord qui sera présenté plus tard au sujet de leur appel pour une Conférence Nationale Souveraine. Il s'agit d'une réunion politique qui serait un précurseur de la Conférence Nationale Souveraine. Un accord politique, c'est très bien; mais sans un raisonnement intellectuel clair et fort donnant du contenu à la position politique de la Conférence Nationale Souveraine, ce blog a bien peur que tout accord politique serait malheureusement en deçà des attentes.

Par conséquent, ce blog préconise l'élaboration d'un solide ensemble de principes intellectuels qui seraient le fondement de cette Conférence Nationale Souveraine. Malheureusement, à ce jour, ce blog n'a recensé que 2 intellectuels gabonais qui aient partagé leurs idées ouvertement de ce que la Conférence Nationale Souveraine devrait et ne devrait pas être; il s'agit de: Guilou Bitsutsu-Gielessen et Daniel Mengara. Ce blog est d'avis qu'il serait souhaitable que d'autres voix qui prétendent être des penseurs du processus politique gabonais, révèlent leurs pensées et leurs recommandations. Ce serait une tragédie d'aller à la Conférence Nationale Souveraine sans un ensemble d'objectifs clairs et impartiaux. Quand l'avenir de leur pays est en jeu, la plupart des Gabonais doivent savoir ce qui est proposé, par qui et dans quel but? Le mouvement "Ça Suffit Comme Ça" est extrêmement efficace et a fait un travail herculéen dans la promotion et l'avancement de cette cause; mais la société civile ne peut pas tout faire. La classe intellectuelle, les chercheurs, doivent sortir de leur coquille et de leur tour d'ivoire. C'est une honte pour le Gabon, que sa classe instruisante soit suiviste au lieu d'être directrice!

Ceux qui nous lisent tous les jours ou même de temps en temps, savent déjà que ce blog est pour une Conférence Nationale Souveraine qui aurait comme objectif la destitution du régime Bongo. Tout le reste serait considéré comme secondaire par ce blog. La raison de cette position très catégorique, est que le régime Ali Bongo tel qu'il se défini et s'exprime, est tortionnaire du peuple gabonais; c'est un régime déterminé à infliger des souffrances intolérables aux populations. L'ironie ou la calamité vécue par le peuple gabonais, est que c'est nous qui fournissons aux Bongo, les moyens par lesquels ils nous font souffrir. Leurs palais sont achetés et construits sur les ruines de nos écoles, de nos hôpitaux, de nos routes, de nos ponts, etc. Leur arrogance est construite sur notre lâche et stupide obéissance à leurs injonctions. Leur cruauté est construite sur notre tendance à les laisser maitres du devenir de nos droits humains fondamentaux.

Chers lecteurs, nous voulons d'une Conférence Nationale Souveraine qui conduirait à la disparition du régime Bongo, car il est temps pour le Gabon soit dirigé par des gens munis d'un mandat populaire pour exercer les souhaits de la population; par des gens qui sont censés avoir les mêmes préoccupations pour le pays, que ceux qui les ont plébiscités au travers d'élections libres et transparentes. Malheureusement, au Gabon aujourd'hui, les dirigeants, c'est à dire les Bongo, forment un groupuscule d'intérêt distinct de la population; groupuscule dont la raison d'être est la poursuite de ses propres objectifs de conservation de pouvoir pour l'éternité. Cela est inacceptable et doit être arrêté ici et maintenant. Le Gabon doit se donner des dirigeants dont on attendrait une fidélité à la population. Le peuple gabonais souffre, il sait d'où partent les raisons de ces souffrances, il en connait aussi le remède et ne devrait donc pas être désorientés par une variété de soi-disant causes et thérapies. Le remède principal est de faire disparaître le régime Bongo et la reconstruction d'un autre Gabon selon des principes différents, serait possible. La Conférence Nationale Souveraine devrait débarrasser le Gabon de la tyrannie monarchique et de la tyrannie pseudo aristocratique, auxquelles les Bongos sont tellement attachés. Si cela pouvait être réalisé, ce serait un grand succès pour le Gabon!
