The Copil (Steering Committee for the watch and response plan against the coronavirus epidemic) should have been the scientific Gabon’shield against this danger. This committee should have been the showcase of Gabonese scientific expertise in the face of this threat.

When Madagascar found itself in danger of coronavirus, the Madagascan scientists were mobilized and they proposed something scientifically pragmatic to their citizen. Today, there is in Madagascar a strong adhesion of the people to its scientific committee with as a consequence a good mastery of the epidemic.

When Senegal saw itself in danger against the coronavirus, Senegalese scientists were mobilized and set up their own test and their own patient care program. Today, Senegal registers only 22 dead for a population of 17 million; or 1.23 deaths per million inhabitants.

When France was in danger against the coronavirus, we saw French scientists step up and provide solutions to the problem. We have seen a rich scientific debate opposing the Marseille camp of Professor Raoult, and the other French scientists who proposed different approaches. Very quickly from the discussion came the light and we witnessed a better control of the epidemic to the point that France is in a phase of deconfinement today and the curves of infections and deaths are clearly under control.

But in Gabon, our dear Gabon, what did the Copil offer us? What attempt at solution apart from washing your hands? What open scientific debate? Nothing ! Nothing ! and still Nothing! The Gabonese look at the Copil and say to themselves, "Is this the best that Gabonese science has to offer?

Dear readers, the result is sad; the Copil can still recover, but time is running out!

Le Copil (Comité de pilotage du plan de veille et de riposte contre l'épidémie du coronavirus) aurait dû être le bouclier scientifique du Gabon contre ce danger. Ce comité aurait dû être la vitrine du savoir-faire scientifique gabonais devant cette menace.

Quand Madagascar s’est vu en danger contre le coronavirus, les scientifiques malgaches ont été mobilisés et ont proposé quelque chose de scientifiquement pragmatique à leur citoyen. Aujourd’hui, il y a à Madagascar une forte adhésion du peuple à son comité scientifique avec comme conséquence une belle maitrise de l’épidémie.

Quand le Sénégal s’est vu en danger contre le coronavirus, les scientifiques sénégalais ont été mobilisés et ont mis sur pieds leur propre test et leur propre programme de prise en charge des malades. Aujourd’hui, le Sénégal n’enregistre que 22 morts pour une population de 17 millions ; soit 1,23 morts par million d’habitant.

Quand la France a été en danger contre le coronavirus, on a vu les scientifiques français monter au créneau et apporter des solutions au problème. On a vu un riche débat scientifique opposant le camp des Marseillais du Professeur Raoult, aux autres scientifiques Français qui proposaient des approches différentes. Très vite de la discussion a jaillit la lumière et on assista à un meilleur contrôle de l’épidémie à tel point que la France est en phase de déconfinement aujourd’hui et les courbes d’infections et décès sont nettement sous contrôle.

Mais au Gabon, notre cher Gabon, que nous a proposé le Copil ? Quelle ébauche de solution en dehors de se laver les mains ? Quelle débat scientifique ouvert ? Rien ! Rien ! et encore Rien ! Les Gabonais regardent le Copil et se disent : « c’est ça le meilleur que la science Gabonaise a à offrir ?
