Mathias Otounga Ossibadjouo is the current Gabonese Minister of Decentralization, Cohesion and Territorial Development. This man made threats against another Gabonese citizen, whose only fault would have been to have gone on a political visit to Okondja, the hometown of Mathias Otounga Ossibadjouo. This sectarian conception of the republic is inacceptable at any level whatsoever, but it is even more so for a minister of the republic!

 

When one is so allergic to political pluralism and the freedom of movement of all Gabonese throughout the national territory, one cannot be a ministerial authority representing all these Gabonese. This goes without saying!

 

Despite the confiscation of power, the Gabonese people have learned to organize themselves politically and socially around several poles, which, while sometimes clashing, have always been able to recompose themselves according to political circumstances and social convergences and continue to work in a symbiosis whose goal is social cohesion and the preservation of living together.

 

A state and a nation are formed around ideals and not around a man or a family. Gabonese politics must convey schools of ideas and opinions and not simply speak of loyalty to a person. What do the words "nation" and "homeland" or even "freedom of conscience" mean to someone like Mathias Otounga Ossibadjouo?

 

Sectarianism is a huge peril for any nation. Anyone who stirs up community extremism cannot be in a government that is supposed to represent national unity. The political blindness displayed by Mathias Otounga Ossibadjouo in the above audio, alone, shows that this gentleman does not understand, or pretends not to understand, the meaning of the word "republican".

Mathias Otounga Ossibadjouo est le ci-devant ministre Gabonais de la Décentralisation, de la Cohésion et du Développement des territoires. Ce monsieur a proféré des menaces envers un autre citoyen Gabonais, dont le seul tort aurait été d’être allé en visite politique à Okondja, la ville natale de Mathias Otounga Ossibadjouo. Cette conception sectaire de la république est inacceptable à quelque niveau que ce soit, mais elle l’est encore plus pour un ministre de la république !

 

Quand on est si allergique au pluralisme politique et à la liberté de circuler de tout Gabonais sur toute l’étendue du territoire national, on ne peut être une autorité ministérielle représentant tous ces Gabonais. Cela va de soi !

 

En dépit de la confiscation du pouvoir, les Gabonais ont appris à s’organiser politiquement et socialement autour de plusieurs pôles, qui, tout en s’affrontant quelquefois, ont toujours su se recomposer selon les circonstances politiques et les convergences sociales et continuent à œuvrer dans une symbiose dont le but est la cohésion sociale et le maintien du vivre ensemble.

 

Un Etat et une nation se forment autour d’idéaux et non autour d'un homme ou une famille. La politique gabonaise doit véhiculer des courants d'idées et d'opinions et non simplement parler de fidélité envers une personne. Que signifient les mots « nation » et « patrie », ou encore « liberté de conscience », pour quelqu’un comme Mathias Otounga Ossibadjouo ?

 

Le sectarisme est un énorme péril pour toute nation. Toute personne qui attise les extrémismes communautaires ne peut être dans un gouvernement censé représenter l’unité nationale.
