When one wants to please children, they promise them treats. It's easy and it makes kids smile. But running a country is much more complicated and serious than that.

 

In 2009, Ali Bongo promised to build 5,000 social housing units in Gabon per year. 13 years later, when he should have built 5000 X 13 = 65000 dwellings, he has not even erected 500; or less than 1% of the promised number.

 

Here he is again promising the affected populations of the difficult neighborhoods of the PKs, that he will relocate them to more reliable locations. When will he relocate them? How many families will benefit from these homes? What budget has been allocated to this project? Who will lead this project? Where will the relocations be built?

 

To all these questions, there is only one answer: "chocolates and sweets!"

Quand on veut faire plaisirs a des enfants, on leur promet des friandises. C’est facile et cela fait sourire les gamins. Mais diriger un pays est bien plus compliqué et sérieux que cela.

 

En 2009, Ali Bongo avait promis construire 5000 logements sociaux au Gabon par an. 13 ans plus tard, alors qu’il devrait avoir construit 5000 X 13 = 65000 logements, il n’en a même pas érigé 500 ; soit moins de 1% du nombre promis.

 

Le voici entrain de promettre a nouveau aux populations sinistrées des quartiers difficiles des PKs, qu’il va les reloger dans des endroits plus fiables. Quand va-t-il les reloger ? Combien de familles bénéficieront de ces logements ? quel budget a été alloue à ce projet ? Qui pilotera ce projet ? Où seront construits les relogements ?

 

A toutes ces questions, une seule réponse : « chocolats et bonbons !»
