English Version

If one believes the French periodical La Lettre du Continent, in its latest issue, the preparations for the collision between Jean Ping and Ali Bongo are rife in both camps. They are both positioning themselves for a knife battle: here are the details.

After the turmoil of 2009 that saw Andre Mba Obame undermine the certainties of the apostles of the hereditary succession, they had resolved to thoroughly clean the political landscape in Gabon which was to return the image of Ali Bongo as natural candidate in the country. To do this, some people would have to disappear and this is what happened as a coincidence, with the rapid dispatch of Pierre Mamboundou ad patres and the affliction of André Mba Obame by a terrible disease that seems to have left him unable to participate actively in political competition in Gabon. La Lettre du Continent opens by stating that after this cleaning, Ali Bongo and his inner-circle could have been rubbing their hands in anticipation of another Bongo regime for at least thirty years. But the appearance of Jean Ping came to smash this beautiful idyllic electoral picture, at least for 2016, causing panic in the ranks of the loyalist bongoïsts.

Describing Jean Ping’s strategy, La Lettre du Continent said that he first wants to federate the "unhappy"; that is to say all those who are dissatisfied with the presence of Ali Bongo at the head of the country, and God knows there are many! They range from former barons of the regime, to some members of the Bongo family who have knives-drawn with Ali Bongo, through free trade unions members and the free civil society. Traveling currently in Paris, from where he conducts random trips in other countries, Jean Ping’s overriding goal is to meet André Mba Obame to symbolically receive his endorsment which should mean the presentation to the fang electorate of Jean Ping as the official selection of André Mba Obame. This meeting could take place in Niger, where André Mba Obame is said to be at the moment.

Simultaneously, Jean Ping plans to directly open a front in Haut-Ogooué, which would be the first leg of his tour of Gabon. This breach would be managed by Michel Ongoundou Loundah, Michel Mpega and Philibert Andzembé. If the Haut-Ogooué is the first step, the last is also being prepared fervently because it would take place in the province of Ogooué-Maritime which is Jean Ping’s, where he plans to fill up naturally. If Woleu-Ntem, Estuaire and Ogooué-Maritime resolutely remain anti Ali Bongo as in 2009, if there is an erosion of the 100% obtained in the Haut-Ogooué, how would Mborantsuo justify this time the proclamation of results giving Ali Bongo as the winner? As usual, she won’t give a crap!

To counter Ping’s plans, La Lettre du Continent says that Maixant Accrombessi has established a unit responsible for spying on his every move and prepare a counter attack. The French periodic also told us that in early 2015, Jean Ping would launch a new political party. This blog has already given its opinion on the multiplication of parties.

We are also told by La Lettre du Continent, that the regime has given to Ernest Mpouho the mission to stop the bleeding in Haut-Ogooué, with the first order being to ensure that the effective Libama Marcel, a native of this province and member of the CONASYSED, stops his activism against the regime. In this task Ernest Mpouho is assisted by Jean Boniface Assélé and Leon Paul Ngoulakia. In the role of Missi Dominici to the unhappy, Ali Bongo has assigned Antoine Mboumbou-Miyakou, while not far behind, the role of conveying funds to be used to enable corruption and the purchase of consciences has been entrusted to Maixant Accrombessi and Yves Fernand-Manfoumbi.

It is going to be interesting...
