GABON GOES IN DEBT AGAIN FOR THE BUILDING OF A DAM! LE GABON S’ENDETTE A NOUVEAU POUR LA CONSTRUCTION D’UN BARRAGE !

Africa Intelligence tells us that Gabon, via the Gabonese Fund for Strategic Investments (FGIS) that Nourredin Bongo-Valentin leads, would be in the process of finalizing with the IFC (International Finance Corporation, of the World Bank group) and the ADB (African Developpement Bank), new loans on the pretext of financing a new dam in Kinguélé, known as Kinguélé aval.

IFC is expected to provide two loans to Gabon totaling $ 65 million (38 billion CFA francs) for this project. The second donor of this project, the ADB is expected to provide a loan of between $ 40 and $ 50 million, or between 23 and 30 billion CFA francs.

In addition, the consortium in charge of the project, Asonha Energy, which brings together the FGIS and the French fund specializing in infrastructure, Meridiam, will finance with their own equity, the rest of the total cost of the project, estimated at around 186 million dollars or 108 billion CFA francs. This dam should provide SEEG's electrical network with additional power of around 34 MW. The dam project has already been entrusted to Sinohydro, the Chinese giant.

Africa Intelligence nous apprend que le Gabon, via le Fonds Gabonais d'Investissements Stratégiques (FGIS) que dirige Nourredin Bongo-Valentin, serait en trait de finaliser avec la SFI (Société Financière Internationale, du groupe Banque Mondiale) et la BAD (Banque Africaine de Developpement), de nouveaux emprunts sous prétexte de financer un nouveau barrage à Kinguélé, dit Kinguélé aval.

La SFI devrait attribuer deux prêts au Gabon d'un montant total de 65 millions de dollars (38 milliards de francs CFA), pour ce projet. Le deuxième bailleur de ce projet, la BAD devrait apporter pour sa part un prêt compris entre 40 et 50 millions $, soit entre 23 et 30 milliards de francs CFA.

De plus, le consortium en charge du projet, Asonha énergie, qui regroupe le FGIS et le fonds français spécialisé dans les infrastructures, Meridiam, financera sur fonds propres le reste du coût total du projet, estimé à environ 186 millions de dollar soit 108 milliards de francs CFA. Ce barrage devrait apporter au réseau électrique de la SEEG une puissance additionnelle d'environ 34 MW. Le chantier du barrage aurait déjà été confié à Sinohydro, le géant chinois.
