We must not be afraid of democracy. Democracy allows everyone to
participate in decision-making that affects society, thus ensuring fair
representation of different voices and opinions. It promotes transparency,
accountability, and the protection of individual rights and freedoms. Democracy
can sometimes seem complex and chaotic, but it provides a framework for
peacefully resolving disputes and promoting the common good.
The Gabonese people must know that democracy always prevails in the
end, because it is optimistic and is based on the belief that the democratic
values of freedom, equality, and justice are universally desired and that they
offer lasting advantages over other forms of governance.
However, history shows that the road to democracy can be long and
fraught with challenges. Many countries have gone through periods of
dictatorship, authoritarianism, or totalitarian regimes before becoming stable
democracies. Moreover, even established democracies can be fragile and
vulnerable to internal and external threats.
It is therefore essential to support and strengthen democratic
institutions, promote civic education, and remain vigilant in the face of
challenges that can erode democratic principles. Democracy requires a constant
commitment from citizens in order for it to thrive and flourish.

Il ne faut pas avoir peur de
la démocratie. La démocratie permet à chacun de participer à la prise de
décisions qui affectent la société, garantissant ainsi une représentation
équitable des différentes voix et opinions. Elle favorise la transparence, la responsabilité,
et la protection des droits et libertés individuels. La démocratie peut parfois
sembler complexe et chaotique, mais elle offre un cadre pour résoudre
pacifiquement les différends et pour promouvoir le bien commun.
Que les Gabonais le sachent :
la démocratie finit toujours par l'emporter, car elle est optimiste et repose
sur la croyance que les valeurs démocratiques de liberté, égalité, et justice
sont universellement désirées et qu'elles offrent des avantages durables par
rapport à d'autres formes de gouvernance.
Cependant, l'histoire montre
que le chemin vers la démocratie peut être long et semé d'embûches. De nombreux
pays ont traversé des périodes de dictature, d'autoritarisme, ou de régimes
totalitaires avant de devenir des démocraties stables. De plus, même les
démocraties établies peuvent être fragiles et vulnérables aux menaces internes
et externes.
Il est donc essentiel de
soutenir et de renforcer les institutions démocratiques, de promouvoir
l'éducation civique, et de rester vigilant face aux défis qui peuvent éroder
les principes démocratiques. La démocratie nécessite un engagement constant de
la part des citoyens pour qu'elle puisse prospérer et s'épanouir.
