Dear readers, when we look at the spectacle presented to us by CBON and his army of freeloaders, it becomes evident that had Professor Albert Ondo Ossa, the consensus candidate of the Alternance 2023 platform, acceded to the presidency, the break with the old system would have taken a completely different form.

His profile as an academic and economist, along with his rhetoric of strict rupture, foreshadowed a more technocratic administration.

His immediate circle would logically have been composed of the opposition figures who supported him, which would have mechanically distanced a large portion of the old system's stalwarts and profiteers from the centers of decision-making.

However, to be entirely objective, we must also keep in mind a persistent political reality: power inevitably attracts opportunists. Even if Ondo Ossa had become president, he would have had to face the scourge of political transhumance. 

Many actors seeking to preserve their interests, businesses, or privileges would have attempted, in one way or another, to pledge allegiance to his new government. Political clientelism is an often systemic evil that requires a great deal of time to eradicate.

Regarding CBON, a major paradox can be observed. Although the military promised the restoration of institutions and an end to the abuses of the past, we have seen many former executives of the fallen regime and various courtiers quickly turn their coats to ostensibly display themselves alongside the new authorities.

The mere change of a single man at the top of the State is not always enough to transform the political culture of the entourage; this is why we see CBON primarily entrusting his communication to activists and journalists who are too often controversial.

The profile, background, and temperament of Professor Albert Ondo Ossa constitute strong arguments to support the assertion that his immediate circle would have been fundamentally different from that of CBON.

Albert Ondo Ossa is first and foremost an academic, a distinguished professor of economics accustomed to intellectual rigor.

It is highly probable that he would have surrounded himself with similar profiles: technocrats, experts, academics, and respected figures from civil society, rather than the loudmouths we observe today.

Those who have followed his career, notably during his tenure at the Ministry of Higher Education, recognize in him a moral orthodoxy and an authority that do not sit well with political compromises. This intransigence, which may have even earned him some enmities, would have acted as a natural filter against profiteers.

The major difference between Albert Ondo Ossa and CBON lies in their trajectories relative to the fallen system:

The Alternance 2023 candidate embodied the total rupture of the opposition. CBON, on the other hand, evolved at the very heart of the security apparatus and the intimacy of power: aide-de-camp to Omar Bongo, then head of the Republican Guard under Ali Bongo.

Because of his past, CBON knows and is connected to the entire old nomenklatura. His current alliances reflect the networks he rubbed shoulders with throughout his military career.

AOO, having been outside this inner circle for a long time, would have had neither the same moral debts nor the same friendly or structural pressures toward the courtiers of the old regime.

An AOO administration would have been perceived as a clear mandate from the people to clean up the institutions. His legitimacy would not have rested on military force or the appeasement of former barons, but on the popular vote demanding the end of a system.

While it is illusory to think that any power, whatever it may be, could be totally immune to clientelism, it is undeniable that the backbone of an Ondo Ossa government would have been built on much stricter criteria of probity. The architecture of his power would have left far less room for the freeloaders currently parasitizing the CBON regime.

Chers lecteurs, quand on regarde le folklore que nous présentent CBON et son armée de piques assiettes, il devient évident que si le Professeur Albert Ondo Ossa, le candidat consensuel de la plateforme Alternance 2023, avait accédé à la présidence, la rupture avec l'ancien système aurait pris une tout autre forme.

Son profil d'universitaire, d'économiste et son discours de rupture stricte laissaient présager une administration plus technocratique.

Son entourage direct aurait logiquement été constitué des figures de l'opposition qui l'ont soutenu, ce qui aurait mécaniquement éloigné des centres de décision une grande partie des caciques et des profiteurs de l'ancien système.

Cependant, pour être tout à fait objectif, il faut aussi garder à l'esprit une réalité tenace de la politique : le pouvoir attire inévitablement les opportunistes. Même si Ondo Ossa était devenu président, il aurait dû faire face au fléau de la transhumance politique. De nombreux acteurs cherchant à préserver leurs intérêts, leurs affaires ou leurs privilèges auraient tenté, d'une manière ou d'une autre, de faire allégeance à son nouveau gouvernement. Le clientélisme politique est un mal souvent systémique qui demande beaucoup de temps pour être éradiqué.

Concernant CBON, un paradoxe majeur s’observe. Bien que les militaires aient promis la restauration des institutions et la fin des dérives du passé, on a vu de nombreux anciens cadres du régime déchu et divers courtisans retourner rapidement leur veste pour s'afficher ostensiblement avec les nouvelles autorités.

Le simple changement d'un homme au sommet de l'État ne suffit pas toujours à transformer la culture politique de l'entourage, voici pourquoi on voit CBON confier essentiellement sa communication à des activistes et journalistes trop souvent sulfureuses.

Le profil, le parcours et le tempérament du Professeur Albert Ondo Ossa constituent de sérieux arguments pour étayer l’affirmation que son entourage immédiat aurait été fondamentalement différent de celui de CBON.

Albert Ondo Ossa est avant tout un universitaire, un professeur agrégé d'économie habitué à la rigueur intellectuelle.

Il est très probable qu'il se serait entouré de profils similaires : des technocrates, des experts, des universitaires et des figures respectées de la société civile, plutôt que d’aboyeur comme ceux que nous observons aujourd’hui.

Ceux qui ont suivi son parcours, notamment lors de son passage au ministère de l'Enseignement supérieur, lui reconnaissent une orthodoxie morale et une autorité qui s'accommodent mal des compromissions politiciennes. Cette intransigeance, qui a d'ailleurs pu lui valoir des inimitiés, aurait agi comme un filtre naturel contre les profiteurs.

La différence majeure entre Albert Ondo Ossa et CBON réside dans leur trajectoire par rapport au système déchu :

Le candidat d'Alternance 2023 incarnait la rupture totale de l'opposition. CBON, en revanche, a évolué au cœur même de l'appareil sécuritaire et de l'intimité du pouvoir: aide de camp d'Omar Bongo, puis patron de la Garde Républicaine sous Ali Bongo. 

De par son passé, CBON connaît et est connecté à toute l'ancienne nomenklatura. Ses alliances actuelles reflètent les réseaux qu'il a côtoyés tout au long de sa carrière militaire. 

AOO, étant en dehors de ce sérail depuis longtemps, n'aurait eu ni les mêmes dettes morales, ni les mêmes pressions amicales ou structurelles envers les courtisans de l'ancien régime.

Un pouvoir AOO aurait été perçue comme un mandat clair du peuple pour nettoyer les institutions. Sa légitimité n'aurait pas reposé sur la force militaire ou l'apaisement des anciens barons, mais sur le vote populaire exigeant la fin d’un système.

S'il est illusoire de penser qu'un pouvoir, quel qu'il soit, puisse être totalement immunisé contre le clientélisme, il est indéniable que la colonne vertébrale d'un gouvernement Ondo Ossa aurait été bâtie sur des critères de probité beaucoup plus stricts. L'architecture de son pouvoir aurait laissé beaucoup moins de place aux pique-assiettes qui parasitent actuellement le régime CBON.
