INFLATION IN A FEW WORDS. L’INFLATION EN QUELQUES MOTS

Gabonese debt increase since 2009

English version

According to the World Bank, a country's inflation rate is an index of consumer prices. The growth of the consumer price index determines the rate of inflation, i.e. the change in prices paid by the average consumer over a given period for his purchases of goods and services. This rate is an indicator of the economic health of a country.

When we are told that in Gabon, just for the month of September, this rate has increased by 3%, understand that what you bought in August 2017 for 100 thousand CFA francs, will now cost you 103 thousand CFA francs in September (on average).

Obviously, without income growth, this inflation will lead to a decrease in the purchasing power of the average Gabonese.

We will not give up!
