In Gabon, the role of the Constitutional Court is to examine the conformity of the laws and legal acts including those of the President of the Republic and the Government, with the country's Constitution.

 

Recently a government decree was deemed unconstitutional by the Gabonese Constitutional Court. But this judgment as soon as it was pronounced, the government reintroduced the same decree. In short, the Ali Bongo government ignores the judgment of the Constitutional Court.

 

If the Ali Bongo regime has no respect for the judgments of its Constitutional Court, how can they ask the Gabonese people to respect that court?

Au Gabon, le rôle de la Cour constitutionnelle consiste à examiner la conformité des lois et des actes juridiques, incluant ceux du Président de la République et du Gouvernement, par rapport à la Constitution du pays.

 

Récemment un arrêté gouvernemental a été juge anticonstitutionnel par la Cour Constitutionnelle Gabonaise. Mais ce jugement aussitôt prononcé, le même gouvernement a réintroduit le même arrêté. En résumé, le gouvernement Ali Bongo fait fi du jugement de la Cour Constitutionnelle.

 

Si le régime Ali Bongo n’a aucun respect pour les jugements de sa Cour Constitutionnelle, comment peut-il demander au peuple Gabonais de respecter cette cour ?
