In recent days, some valiant compatriots have decided to step up to the plate and put the executive and judicial authorities of Gabon before the effectively violation of our constitution, with regard to the measures taken by the government in its supposed fight against Covid-19.

 

Since then, the executive power, through its government; and the judiciary by the Constitutional Court, have engaged in a game of ping-pong during which these powers seem to want to neutralize each other by challenging their respective authority before the texts.

 

There is, however, one big absentee in this battle, and that is the legislative power; that is the parliament. Indeed, so far, neither the Senate nor the National Assembly have issued any opinion. No member of parliament has made a statement one way or the other.

 

If the parliament is conspicuous by its absence in such matters, it then means that this institution is useless in Gabon. It must be closed and the money of its operation could be used to be reinvested in the collection of household garbage.

Depuis quelques jours, de vaillants compatriotes ont décidé de monter au créneau et de mettre les autorités exécutives et judiciaires du Gabon devant l’effectivité de la violation de notre constitution, en ce qui concernait les mesures prises par le gouvernement dans sa supposée lutte contre la Covid-19.

 

Depuis, le pouvoir exécutif, par son gouvernement ; et le judiciaire par la Cour Constitutionnelle, se livrent à une partie de ping-pong pendant laquelle ces pouvoirs semblent vouloir se neutraliser en se contestant mutuellement leur autorité devant les textes.

 

Il y a néanmoins un grand absent dans cette bataille, c’est le pouvoir législatif ; c’est-à-dire le parlement. En effet, jusqu’ici, ni le Senat, ni l’Assemblée Nationale, n’ont émis aucun avis. Aucun membre du parlement n’a fait une déclaration dans un sens ou dans l’autre.

 

Si le parlement brille par son absence dans de tel dossiers, c’est que cette institution ne sert à rien au Gabon. Il faut la fermer et économiser l’argent de son fonctionnement qui pourrait servir à être réinvestit dans le ramassage des ordures ménagères.
