Dear readers, we come in this post to answer a reader who asked us how he could convince the Gabonese around him who still refuse to admit that the country is experiencing a pitiful and dangerous end of the reign of a decadent regime.

 

We therefore advise this reader to take a down-to-earth approach to people who have difficulty understanding things that are basic. We suggest that they use the following metaphor:

 

Imagine this Bongo regime as a child who needs to grow up, and you as somebody observing the behavior of that child and determining whether this child will grow up to be successful or a failure.

 

1.       This child, the regime, has a very bad attitude; but for their mother the PDG, the child could do no wrong in her eyes.

2.       There is always an excuse for this child behavior: if they want a new toy, or to stay up late playing games or watching television on a school night, all they have to do is cry; and their mother will allow them to do what they want.

3.       This child keeps bringing home disastrous report cards; but always says that the bad results are the teacher’s fault. The teacher hates them.

4.       The child can barely read but is always promoted at the end of the year to the next grade.

5.       This child has learned from an early age that they don’t need to put out any effort for anything.

 

If you are asked to determine if this child will succeed in the future. Could you honestly say that this child is on the right trajectory? Could you say that this child will be successful in the future? This is exactly how to evaluate the Bongo regime.

Chers lecteurs, nous venons dans ce billet répondre à un lecteur nous ayant demandé comment il pourrait convaincre les Gabonais autour de lui qui refusent encore d’admettre que le pays vit une fin de règne pitoyable et dangereuse d’un régime décadent.

 

Nous conseillons donc à ce lecteur de prendre une approche terre a terre face a des gens qui ont du mal à comprendre des choses pourtant faciles. Nous lui suggérons d’utiliser la métaphore suivante :

 

Imaginez ce régime Bongo comme un enfant qui a besoin de grandir, et vous comme quelqu’un qui observe le comportement de cet enfant et détermine si cet enfant grandira pour réussir ou échouer.

 

1. Cet enfant, le régime, a un très mauvais comportement ; mais pour sa mère le PDG, l’enfant ne fait jamais rien de mal à ses yeux.

2. Il y a toujours une excuse pour justifier le mauvais comportement de l’enfant: s’il veut un nouveau jouet, ou rester éveillé tard en jouant à des jeux vidéo ou en regardant la télévision, un soir d’école ; tout ce qu’il a à faire est de pleurer; et sa mère lui permettra de faire ce qu’il veut.

3. Cet enfant continue de ramener à la maison des bulletins scolaires désastreux ; mais dit toujours que les mauvais résultats sont la faute de l’enseignant. L’enseignant le détesterait.

4. L’enfant sait à peine lire mais est toujours promu à la fin de l’année en classe supérieure.

5. Cet enfant a appris dès son plus jeune âge qu’il n’a pas besoin de faire d’efforts pour quoi que ce soit.

 

Si on vous demande de déterminer si cet enfant réussira à l’avenir. Pourriez-vous honnêtement dire que cet enfant soit sur la bonne trajectoire ? Pourriez-vous dire que cet enfant réussira à l’avenir ? C’est exactement ainsi que l’on évalue le régime Bongo.
