CANADA HAS A SOVEREIGN FUND! LE CANADA SE DOTE D’UN FOND SOUVERAIN!

On April 27, 2026, the Government of Canada, under the leadership of Prime Minister Mark Carney, announced the creation of its very first national sovereign wealth fund, called the Fund for a Strong Canada. This fund has an initial capitalization of $25 billion.

Here are the key points of this announcement:

Objective: The fund aims to invest strategically alongside the private sector in infrastructure, energy transition, critical minerals and agriculture projects to stimulate the country’s economic transformation.

Operation: It is structured as a savings and investment account managed by a Crown corporation, guaranteeing the sums invested.

Participation: This fund will allow Canadian citizens to invest in major projects of national interest.

Management: The fund is designed to reinvest its income in order to increase its investment capacity over time.

This initiative positions Canada, which was one of the few G7 countries without national sovereign funds, on the global strategic investment map.

Le 27 avril 2026, le gouvernement du Canada, sous la direction du premier ministre Mark Carney, a annoncé la création de son tout premier fonds souverain national, baptisé le Fonds pour un Canada fort. Ce fonds est doté d'une capitalisation initiale de 25 milliards de dollars. 

Voici les points clés de cette annonce :

• Objectif : Le fonds vise à investir stratégiquement aux côtés du secteur privé dans des projets d'infrastructure, de transition énergétique, de minéraux critiques et d'agriculture pour stimuler la transformation économique du pays.
