This Monday, April 27, 2026, Franck Nguema, a former minister of Ali Bongo, presented to the public a political and social essay entitled “What is good for the Gabonese is good for Gabon”. This act marked his return to public life after a hiatus of a few months.

Many politicians have often used philanthropy as a vehicle for image laundering. It is a classic tool for survival and political redeployment.

For his return to politics, Franck Nguema wants to avoid appearing as an opportunist and links this return to a priesthesm that he decides to lead in the service of the populations and the fight against poverty.

Franck Nguema launches his action through the publication of an essay, which he presents as Volume 1 of a series. He announces his intention to go on the road to meet citizens to promote participatory democracy.

Franck Nguema does not position himself in the opposition. He declares to strongly support CBON. But he is counting above all on the fact that since public services fail to guarantee the basic needs (education, health, access to water) of Gabonese, through philanthropy, he could plunge into the breach.

Franck Nguema no longer wishes to appear as a cog of a criticized system, but as a direct savior. Providing school kits or financing care creates an immediate material impact, much more tangible for populations than a promise of long-term structural reform. That’s his calculation.

Through charitable action, Franck Nguema wants to fundamentally transform the perception that Gabonese have of him. Will he succeed? The future will tell!

Ce lundi 27 avril 2026, Franck Nguema, un ancien ministre d’Ali Bongo, présentait au public un essai politique et social intitulé "Ce qui est bon pour les Gabonais est bon pour le Gabon". Cet acte marquait son retour à la vie publique après un hiatus de quelques mois.

Beaucoup de politiciens se sont souvent servis de la philanthropie comme véhicule de blanchiment d'image.  C’est un outil classique de survie et de redéploiement politique.

Pour son retour en politique, Franck Nguema tient à éviter d’apparaître comme un opportuniste et lie ce retour à un sacerdoce qu’il décide de mener au service des populations et de la lutte contre la pauvreté.

Franck Nguema lance son action à travers la publication d'un essai, qu'il présente comme le Tome 1 d'une série. Il annonce son intention d'aller sur le terrain à la rencontre des citoyens pour promouvoir une démocratie participative. 

Franck Nguema ne se positionne pas dans l'opposition. Il déclare soutenir fermement CBON. Mais il compte surtout sur le fait que puisque les services publics ne parviennent pas à garantir les besoins fondamentaux (éducation, santé, accès à l'eau), des Gabonais, par la philanthropie, il pourrait s’engouffrer dans la brèche. 

Franck Nguema ne souhaite plus apparaître comme un rouage d'un système critiqué, mais comme un sauveur direct. Fournir des kits scolaires ou financer des soins crée un impact matériel immédiat, beaucoup plus tangible pour les populations qu'une promesse de réforme structurelle à long terme. C’est cela son calcul.

Par l’action caritative, Franck Nguema veut transformer fondamentalement la perception que les Gabonais ont de lui. Réussira-il? L’avenir nous le dira!
