WHY THE AFCON IS A RESOUNDING FAILURE FOR ALI BONGO. POURQUOI LA CAN EST UN ÉCHEC RETENTISSANT POUR ALI BONGO

English version

Through its capacity to mobilize the masses, sport has a central place in society in all countries of the world; be it in relation to education, health, culture and of course politics in that it aggregates the largest portion of the population.

In Gabon, in recent years, Ali Bongo has been actively controlling football, either by being the promoter of the better-off clubs, by proxies, such as FC Mounana or FC Sapin; either by organizing two African cups of nations, or by becoming the exclusive and leisurely owner of the image of Aubameyang in the country; because he wanted by using football to divert the Gabonese people from inquisitive activities and from the intellectual influence of the reality of the street and everyday life.

The sporting model of Ali Bongo, to cement its power, is to propose to the Gabonese people to integrate the collective of the national team, of course obviously led by himself, you have understood; where the love of the country would be expressed by an unconditional support for this team, so that international performances that would unite the Gabonese nation behind these champions and naturally behind Ali Bongo, would follow. Dear readers, Ali Bongo wanted to use football to train the Gabonese masses in his image, like Pavlov and his dog. He wanted to create by football fanaticism, a homo gabonicus like the Bongo; that is to say, someone who is satisfied only with repeated leisure, without asking too many other questions.

The AFCON organized repeatedly in Gabon, represent the dramatization and carnivalization of this model which must become the mold of the homo gabonicus citizen. When some skeptic minds said such costly AFCONs must not be organized in a country where many children sit on tree trunks at school, the good homo gabonicus who has assimilated his lesson would answer that the AFCON serves the international influence of the country and that in any case, any opposition to Ali Bongo's football program is an act of antipatriotism.

But for this model wanting to place the homo gabonici behind their beloved leader Ali Bongo, to be credible; there must be victories which attest to the triumph of this model. It is necessary that the national team on which Ali Bongo bets, wins in a striking manner. Nothing like the AFCON to make this splash. A semi-final for the Gabonese national team would have been used by Ali Bongo to strengthen his propaganda. Ali Bongo would have used it as evidence that the national team united around him, expresses a national patriotic solidarity that resulted in magnificent performances. He was preparing to use this success to enhance his regime in the eyes of the Gabonese people.

Ali Bongo wanted to use the Gabonese footballers, Aubameyang first among them, as the true flag bearers of his regime. As subliminal advertisements asking the population to join the regime.

But Ali Bongo has been overtaken by reality. His plan failed miserably and Gabon was eliminated in the first round of his AFCON. Instead of a triumph, it is a crushing failure that he has just been inflicted. To have spent 800 billion for this result is unthinkable.

As far as we are concerned, we will not give up!
