While in Paris, France, Brice-Clotaire Oligui-Nguema encouraged the Gabonese who wish to do so, to return home, to build Gabon. He even announced the establishment of an airlift to transport nationals in distress to Gabon. This is all well and good, but is it realistic?

 

•              Gabonese with good situations in Europe will not return, because the legibility of the opportunities in Gabon is not yet clear. The few pathfinders from the diaspora who have returned have simply been appointed by Oligui-Nguema. Appointing everyone is not a solution. This blog wonders how these Gabonese who will return will survive in the Gabonese jungle?

•              The business climate in Gabon is worse than the jungle. To survive out there, members of the diaspora will have to act like one of the animals of that jungle, sometimes, to have things go their way.

•              Today, at this very moment, to make real money out there in Gabon, you have to be willing to compromise yourself, and play dirty.

•              To open doors in business, buying people over is done casually. That's the most common and most appreciated language in Gabon: corruption. Everybody or nearly everybody who wants their business to succeed in Gabon, has to pay bribes.

•              In Gabon, you can get away with anything as long as you are willing to pay for it.

 

When Brice-Clotaire Oligui-Nguema asked the diaspora to return, did he measure the ramifications of this call?

De passage à Paris en France, Brice-Clotaire Oligui-Nguema a encouragé les Gabonais qui le désirent, à rentrer chez eux, construire le Gabon. Il a même annoncé la mise sur pieds d’un pont aérien pour acheminer les nationaux en détresse, vers le Gabon. C’est très bien, mais est-ce réaliste ?

 

·         Les Gabonais ayant de bonnes situations en Europe ne rentreront pas, car la lisibilité des opportunités au Gabon n’est pas encore nette. Les quelques éclaireurs de la diaspora qui sont rentrés, ont simplement été nommés par Oligui-Nguema. Nommer tout le monde n’est pas une solution. Ce blog se demande donc comment ces Gabonais qui rentreront feront pour survivre dans la jungle Gabonaise ?

1.                   Le climat des affaires au Gabon est pire que la jungle. Pour y survivre, les membres de la diaspora devront parfois agir comme l'un des animaux de cette jungle pour que les choses aillent dans leur sens.

2.                   Aujourd'hui, en ce moment même, pour gagner de l'argent réel au Gabon, il faut être prêt à se compromettre et à jouer sale.

3.                   Pour ouvrir des portes dans les affaires, l'achat de personnes se fait avec désinvolture. C'est le langage le plus courant et le plus apprécié au Gabon : la corruption. Tout le monde ou presque qui veut que son entreprise réussisse au Gabon doit payer des pots-de-vin.

4.                   Au Gabon, vous pouvez vous tirer de n'importe quelle affaire, tant que vous êtes prêt à payer pour cela.

 

Quand Brice-Clotaire Oligui-Nguema demande à la diaspora de rentrer, mesure-t-il les ramifications de cet appel ?
