Pour La Lettre du Continent, c’est pour donner des gages au FMI, irrité par la colossale dette du Gabon, qu’Ali Bongo s’est précipité a annoncer des mesures d’austérité.

Le chômage au Gabon va exploser, car d’après La Lettre du Continent, la taille du gouvernement va être abaissée; les effectifs des cabinets ministériels vont être réduits ; les effectifs des entreprises publiques vont aussi être dégraissés. L’objectif de ces mesures est d’atteindre la promesse qu’Ali Bongo a faite au FMI de réaliser une économie de 70 milliards F CFA (106 millions €) par an sur la masse salariale de l'Etat.

Autre promesse d’Ali Bongo au FMI, la réduction de la corruption qui est endémique dans son régime. Il entend exhiber le procès de Magloire Ngambia comme étant le fer de lance de sa lutte contre la corruption. Mais les agents du FMI seront-ils si naïfs pour croire en cet écran de fumée ? Seul l’avenir nous le dira.
