In 2017, the Carlyle group acquired Shell’s assets in Gabon, for $587
million (about $352 billion CFA francs). They called the new company they
created in Gabon Assala Energy. Only 6 years later, in January 2023, Carlyle
has decided to sell Assala-Energy to the Indonesian company Pertamina.
It should be noted that the
Indonesian major Pertamina is the parent of the well-known company in Gabon:
Maurel & Prom. Carlyle would have mandated the sale of its Gabonese assets
to Citibank. The amount of this sale would amount to about one billion dollars
(600 billion CFA francs).

francs CFA). Ils ont nommé la nouvelle société qu’ils ont créée au Gabon Assala
Energy. Seulement 6 ans plus tard, en janvier 2023, Carlyle a décidé de vendre
Assala-Energy à la société indonésienne Pertamina.
Il faut signaler que la
major indonésienne Pertamina est la parente de la societe bien connue au Gabon :
Maurel & Prom. Carlyle aurait mandaté la cession de ses actifs gabonais à la
Citibank. Le montant de cette vente s’élèverait à environ un milliard de
dollars (600 milliards de francs CFA).
