As Gabon's ongoing transition unfolds, it becomes clearer who is likely to be pulling the strings.

 

Brice-Clotaire Oligui-Nguema, having been Omar Bongo's aide-de-camp for many years, was therefore a privileged witness of the functioning of Gabon. Now that he is at the head of the transition, he surrounds himself with many people from the time of Omar Bongo. The most important of these is Michel Essonghe, who seems more than ever to be Oligui-Nguema's guide.

 

It was Michel Essonghe who is said to have prepared Brice-Clotaire Oligui-Nguema's visits to sub-regional capitals. It is also Michel Essonghe who is responsible for the return of General Flavien Nzengui Nzoundou, who was Omar Bongo's ordinance officer, to the government of Brice-Clotaire Oligui-Nguema. It was also Michel Essonghe who had Guy Rossatanga-Rignault appointed Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic.

 

It is therefore Michel Essonghe who is in charge of the organization of the transition regime and the re-establishment of Gabon on the French, European and American chessboard. For the United States, Michel Essonghe relies on the skills of the excellent Gabonese Ambassador to Washington, Nelson Messone. In France, the situation is more delicate because Mrs. Massala is unfortunately not up to the task.

À mesure que la transition en cours au Gabon se déploie, on comprend mieux qui est susceptible de tirer les ficelles.

 

Brice-Clotaire Oligui-Nguema, pour avoir été pendant de nombreuses années l’Aide de camp d'Omar Bongo, a donc été un témoin privilégié du fonctionnement du Gabon. Maintenant qu’il est à la tête de la transition, il s'entoure de nombreuses personnes de l’époque d’Omar Bongo. Le plus important d’entre eux est Michel Essonghe, qui semble plus que jamais être l’aiguilleur d’Oligui-Nguema.

 

C’est Michel Essonghe qui aurait préparé les visites de Brice-Clotaire Oligui-Nguema dans les capitales sous régionales. C’est encore Michel Essonghe qui est responsable du retour du Général Flavien Nzengui Nzoundou, qui fut officier d'ordonnance d'Omar Bongo, dans le gouvernement de Brice-Clotaire Oligui-Nguema. C'est encore Michel Essonghe qui a fait nommer Guy Rossatanga-Rignault comme Secrétaire général de la Présidence de la République.

 

C’est donc Michel Essonghe qui s’occupe de l’organisation du régime de la transition et de la remise en selle du Gabon sur l’échiquier Français, Européen et Américain. Pour les Etats-Unis, Michel Essonghe s’appuie sur les compétences de l’excellent Ambassadeur du Gabon à Washington, Nelson Messone. En France, la situation est plus délicate car Madame Massala n’est malheureusement pas au niveau.
