It is a delight to find out that more and more Gabonese citizens are speaking up in confronting those in power in Gabon, to demand better governance and accountability. Two such Gabonese have spoken up and we are providing you with their videos and this blog summarized commentaries. We are stating today with Mrs. Yvette Ngwevilo and tomorrow we will present Mr. Marc Ona-Essangui

YVETTE NGWEVILO

1. "The PDG intends to retain its dominant position against all odds, as in the days of a single party system, despite the wishes of the many Gabonese people. "

Here Mrs. Ngwevilo simply means that the PDG intends to retain power by any means and has no plans to comply with the conditions of transparency demanded by the Gabonese people.

2. "I do not throw the anathema on all lawyers, but some people are hungry and when you're hungry, you try to eat. We have a saying that goes that a mouthful does not speak. Somebody may well be a lawyer but if they have an empty stomach and are hungry, they will look for food and when one is trying to eat, they cannot work."

Here Mrs. Ngwevilo in a very subtle language, make us understand that the poor lawyers of CENAP (the National Electoral Commission) are only listening to their stomachs. The poor lawyers are hungry and Ali Bongo gives them something to eat. As simple as that.

3. "As a Gabonese, I would simply say that I'm tired of seeing this story about forged documents, fake birth certificates. A head of state needs to reassure his people. It is desirable that we close this issue once and for all. Obama was accused of the same things and he was able to remove the doubt. It is time and it will be good that the Gabonese president also settles the issue.

Here Mrs. Ngwevilo clearly expresses the frustration felt by many Gabonese who wonder who this man is, at the head of Gabon? Where does he come from? Only Ali Bongo can answer this question and continuing to flee the question is not very reassuring regarding the authenticity of his identity.

4. "We feel that they are looking for a scapegoat for the lack of preparation for the CAN 2012 (African Cup of Nations) competition. We know that Gabon is not quite at ease with the timetable of the organization of the CAN. To put the parliamentary elections a few days of before the CAN is difficult to explain. "

Here Mrs Ngwevilo expresses a general feeling in Gabon, that has much of thinking Gabonese people wondering why the regime is hell bent on having these elections? Could it be to give a reason in anticipation of a CAN catastrophically unprepared?


It is refreshing to see that a very courageous Gabonese lady demonstrates that women, in Gabon, are not just good for dancing and move their buttocks. But they can express their displeasure with a power structure that continues to pillage our nation without any regard for the suffering of the people. It is encouraging to see that we still have responsible leaders with tough spines who will not compromise the will of the people. For that we say: THANK YOU MRS NGWEVILO.

C'est un plaisir de découvrir que de plus en plus de citoyens gabonais s’expriment en confrontant les gens du pouvoir au Gabon, pour leur demander une meilleure gouvernance et de rendre des comptes. Deux tels gabonais ont parlé haut et fort. Nous vous fournissons leurs vidéos et des commentaires résumés de ce qu’ils ont dit. Nous débutons aujourd’hui avec Mme Yvette Ngwevilo et demain se sera au tour de M Marc Ona-Essangui.


YVETTE NGWEVILO

1. « Le PDG entend garder sa place prépondérante contre vents et marées, comme au temps du parti unique, malgré la position que peut avoir le peuple gabonais. »

Ici, Madame Ngwevilo veut tout simplement dire que le PDG entend conserver le pouvoir par tous les moyens et n’envisage aucunement de se plier aux conditions de transparence que réclament les gabonais.

2. « Je ne jetterais pas l’anathème sur tous les juristes, mais certaines personnes ont faim et quand on a faim, on cherche à manger. On dit chez nous que la bouche pleine ne parle pas. On a beau être juriste mais si on a l’estomac vide et qu’on a faim, on va aller chercher à manger et quand on cherche a manger on ne travaille pas. »

Ici Madame Ngwevilo en langage très subtil nous fait comprendre que les pauvres juristes de la CENAP (Commission Electorale Nationale Autonome et Permanente), ne sont qu’à l’écoute de leur estomac. Les pauvres ont faim et Ali Bongo leur donne à manger. C’est aussi simple que ça.

3. « En tant que gabonaise, je dirais simplement que je suis fatiguée de voir cette histoire de faux papiers, de faux actes de naissance. Un chef d’état se doit de rassurer son peuple. Il serait souhaitable qu’on puisse lever cette question une fois pour toute. Le président Obama a été accusé des mêmes choses, il a pu lever le doute. Il est temps et il est de bon ton que le président gabonais se prononce également sur cette question.

Ici Madame Ngwevilo de manière claire, exprime la frustration que ressentent de nombreux gabonais qui se demandent mais qui est cet homme à la tête du Gabon ? D’où sort-il ? Seule Ali Bongo peut répondre à cette question et continuer à fuir la question n’est pas vraiment rassurant quand à l’authenticité de son état civil.

4. « Nous avons l’impression qu’on cherche un bouc émissaire pour les impréparation face à la CAN 2012 (coupe d’Afrique des Nations). On sait que le Gabon n’est pas tout à fait à l’aise avec le chronogramme de l’organisation de la CAN. Placer des élections législatives à quelques jours de la CAN s’explique mal ».

Ici Madame Ngwevilo exprime un sentiment généralisé au Gabon, qui voit une grande partie des gabonais qui réfléchissent, se demander pourquoi le pouvoir s’arcboute à ces élection législatives bâclées ? Serait-ce pour se donner une raison explicative dans l’anticipation d’une CAN catastrophiquement mal préparée ?


Il est rafraîchissant de voir qu'une dame très courageuse démontre que les femmes gabonaises ne sont pas seulement bonnes pour danser et bouger leurs fesses. Mais elles peuvent exprimer leur mécontentement face à une structure de pouvoir qui continue à piller notre nation sans aucun égard pour les souffrances du peuple. Il est encourageant de voir que nous avons encore des leaders responsables ayant une colonne vertébrale solide qui ne compromettent pas la volonté du peuple.
