SUCH A BEAUTIFUL TRIBUTE OF THE GROUP MOVAIZHALEINE TO GRÉGORY NGBWA MINTSA. UN SI BEL HOMMAGE DU GROUPE MOVAIZHALEINE À GRÉGORY NGBWA MINTSA

English Version

The Movaizhaleine group is not into the fashionable hip hop; Gregory NBWA Mintsa was not an activist of ephemeral convictions. the group Movaizhaleine does not sell its honor and its artistic integrity to the highest bidder; Gregory Ngbwa Mintsa prohibited himself to sell his to the Bongos who had offered him golden bridges: "selected the department and the salary of your choice! They said to him "; "Go to hell!" Was his answer. The group Movaizhaleine themes are cultural, social and political; they require intelligence and enlightenment; Gregory Ngbwa Mintsa was not a trivial Gabonese, he set the bar very high, refusing to be debased and also refusing the easy Gabonese laurels, which are traded in exchange for allegiance to the prince. It is not Movaizhaleine that would have agreed to sing "laissez nous avancer"; Gregory Ngbwa Mintsa would not have been caught calling Ali Bongo "distinguished comrade". It was therefore quite natural that after the death of Gregory Ngbwa Mintsa, the group Movaizhaleine pays a tribute of great artistic purity to the person with whom this group maintained an almost symbiotic relationship.

In this tribute, Lord Ekomy Ndong and his colleagues make an interesting parallel between what Gregory Ngbwa Mintsa represented in Gabon and what were the H. Rap Brown, Fred Hampton, Stokely Carmichael, Huey P. Newton and Malcolm X., to the civil rights struggle of blacks in the USA in the 60s. How many Gabonese so called Hip Hop artists are able to speak fluently about the civil rights movement of blacks in the USA and its relationship to the advent of the Hip HOP movement?

This blog will in turn make a parallelism saying that if for Movaizhaleine, Gregory Ngbwa Mintsa would have represented a Gabonese modeled on the civil rights leaders in the U.S.; for this blog, the Group Movaizhaleine is to Gabonese Hip Hop, what Public Enemy in the USA. It is therefore no exaggeration for this blog to find a perfect collusion between the protagonists that are Movaizhaleine and Gregory Ngbwa Mintsa on the intellectual, artistic, political and social levels in Gabon. For both, it is the same battle, in perfect harmony! The two are complementary and are the messengers of a bruised and robbed people.

Commitment to justice is not an easy life. As Gregory Ngbwa Mintsa who suffered personally, the group Movaizhaleine also evolves away from the “authorized” circles in Gabon. But in the same way that Gregory Ngbwa Mintsa was a pioneer, the artists of the group Movaizhaleine are showing talented young Gabonese that one can succeed without becoming a stooge.

Enjoy this delightful video tribute
