ALI BONGO’S PRECIPITATED CANDIDACY, VIEWED BY LA LETTRE DU CONTINENT. LA CANDIDATURE PRECIPITÉE D’ALI BONGO VUE PAR LA LETTRE DU CONTINENT

English version

According to La Lettre du Continent, the haste with which Ali Bongo presented himself as a candidate for the presidential election of 2016, is due to its willingness to speed passed the movement Heritage and Modernity (H&M) within the PDG. One way to silence them by placing them before the accomplished deed.

The group formed by rebellious PDG MPs, under the leadership of Alexandre Barro Chambrier, actually requested that a summit be held, after which would emerge a consensus candidate for the party. Not wanting absolutely to do this, as expected, Ali Bongo just imposed his will, as in 2009. To do so, Ali Bongo is said to have used two bodies of the party: the UJPDG, and the Renaissance Association of Maixent Accrombessi.

It is said by La Lettre du Continent that neither the Secretary General of the PDG, Faustin Boukoubi; or Guy Nzouba Ndama, were consulted. Moreover, La Lettre du Continent reveals that Ali Bongo holds Guy Nzouba Ndama to be the puppeteer of H&M. The consequence of this action by Ali Bongo is that Boukoubi, Nzouba, and H&M, should soon name their own candidate and declare an internal war with Ali Bongo, is leave the PDG and become ally of either Ping, or the party Union Nationale.

But in the meantime, Ali Bongo has just excluded from the PDG, Alexandre Barro-Chambrier, Michel Menga and Jonathan Ignoumba, all members of H&M. The exclusion document is oddly signed by Boukoubi by proxy.

In addition, La Lettre du Continent also tells us that the French Environment Minister, Segolene Royal, is expected on an official visit to Libreville on the 13th of March.
