It is La Lettre du Continent which first announced the news: Guy Nzouba-Ndama, the current president of the National Assembly and one of the architects of the takeover by Ali Bongo in 2009, just declared his candidacy for the Gabonese presidential election of August 2016.

On March 22, 2015, this blog published a post entitled: "THE POSITIONNING OF GUY NZOUBA-NDAMA CONFIRMS THE BURSTING OF THE REGIME" in which we revealed that in 2011/2012, while the political and economic situation of the country was tumbling, the French Ambassador to Gabon asked to meet Guy Nzouba-Ndama and during the meeting, that ambassador said that Ali Bongo was not a head of state, but a little punk and France was no longer going to back him. We did not tell you this at the time, but this information was given to us by someone who was in the room. We will republish that post because it explains the current situation.

With the departure of Guy Nzouba-Ndama, the Ali Bongo camp has officially lost one of its leading supports. Worse, in geopolitical terms, Ali Bongo cannot really rely 100% on the Haut-Ogooué-Lolo and without this block, he may not even have 10% of the electorate.

Clearly Ali Bongo has lost his main political support, but as long as he retains his military support, his nuisance capacity remains considerable. We need to encourage elements of the army to dissociate from this regime in freefall. We can do it!

C’est La Lettre du Continent qui a annoncé la nouvelle en primeur: Guy Nzouba-Ndama, l’actuel président de l’Assemblée Nationale et l’un des artisans de la prise du pouvoir par Ali Bongo en 2009, vient de se déclarer candidat pour la présidentielle gabonaise d’aout 2016.

Le 22 Mars 2015, ce blog publiait un billet sous le titre : « LE DÉMARQUAGE DE GUY NZOUBA-NDAMA CONFIRME L’ÉCLATEMENT DU RÉGIME », dans lequel nous révélions qu’en 2011/2012, alors que la situation politique et économique du pays dégringolait, l’ambassadeur de France au Gabon demanda à rencontrer Guy Nzouba-Ndama et au cours de cette rencontre, l’ambassadeur lui dit qu’Ali Bongo n’était pas un chef d’Etat, mais un petit voyou et que la France allait le lâcher. Nous ne vous l’avions pas dit à l’époque, mais cette information nous avait été confiée par quelqu’un qui était présent dans la salle. Nous allons republier ce billet car il explique la situation actuelle.

Il est clair qu’Ali Bongo a perdu ses principaux appuis politiques, mais tant qu’il conserve ses supports militaires, sa capacité de nuisance demeure considérable. Nous devons encourager les éléments de l’armée, à se dissocier de ce régime en chute libre. Nous pouvons y arriver!
