English version
In having more than 50 activists including Marc Ona Essangui, arrested in Libreville on Friday morning, Ali Bongo managed to overshadow his own event, the New-York Forum Africa. All the news agencies such as, AFP, Reuters and Associated Press published more articles about the arrests than about Ali Bongo's forum. Important organizations such as SURVIE in France and politicians such as Mélanchon, issued very strong condemnations against the Ali Bongo regime following the arrests. Not exactly the kind of publicity Ali Bongo was hoping for. Below is a press release from Georges Mpaga of the free Gabonese civil society, summarizing what happened on Friday.

Georges Mpaga

Political defiance applied by the civil society and the Gabonese democrats, causes Ali Bongo the tyrant to capitulate in his desperate desire to muzzle protest in Gabon.

Faced with the unprecedented mobilization of democratic forces, the various national and international networks, the tyrant Ali Bongo of Gabon has been forced to release the leaders of civil society, Marc Ona, Gregory Ngbwa Mintsa, Marcel Libama and forty other members of the Movement of Gabonese Indignants who were arbitrarily detained by police under orders from the autocratic regime of the tyrant Ali Bongo.

By this brutal repression against members of civil society and Gabonese democrats, Ali the tyrant and his regime have just confirmed the dictatorial nature of a regime out of breath, plunged into a permanent psychosis, engaged in a desperate fight for its survival, profoundly weakened, crossed by internal contradictions due to the incompetence of the tyrant Ali and his inability to conduct with wisdom and intelligence the affairs of the country.

More than ever unite and apply political defiance!
