This week the newspaper "Le Beninois Libéré" published a scoop, informing the world that an airplane belonging to the armed forces of Gabon and dedicated to the transportation of the Gabonese president had been grounded in Cotonou, the capital city of Benin, under suspicion of drug trafficking and money laundering. Immediately after that article became public, the Gabonese presidential palace started to panic and issued laughable explanation that the plane was on official mission in Benin. This blog is very suspicious of what that plane was doing in Benin and who was aboard the plane. Let's review the undisputed facts:
1. On Friday, November 11, 2011, a plane belonging to the republic of Gabon flew from Libreville to Cotonou and dropped off a VIP, Maixent Accrombessi, who is the cabinet director of Ali Bongo, along with three young women. Then on Sunday, November 13, 2011, the same plane came back to pick them up.
2. It is during the departure process that the plane was grounded by the Benin authority because they said that they found large sum of money on board and also because the 3 women who had been dropped in Benin that Friday, when tested for drugs, tested positive while they were boarding a regular commercial flight.
3. The passports of the individuals were seized by the authorities and despite the intervention of Yayi Boni, the president of Benin, the person in charge of airport security in Benin refused to release the passport. The plane left and came back to Gabon without the passports.
These are serious allegations and both the Benin and Gabonese people deserved to be told the truth, the whole truth. This case is especially concerning because the version and explanation of events presented by Ali Bongo to justify the presence of that plane in Benin does not make any sense at all. The same newspaper tells the readers that this is not the first time this plane is caught in suspicion of trafficking. A few months ago, the same plane was already seized by the Benin police, but the story was successfully covered-up. This blog thinks that another cover-up is underway for the following reasons:
1 First, both head of states, Yayi Boni and Ali Bongo are saying that the plane came to Benin for a mission. This blog is asking: "what official mission exactly takes place during a weekend? If indeed, this was an official mission, could the public be told what the object of that mission was and why a weekend was chosen as the appropriate time for this mission?
2 Second, the three ladies who were dropped in Cotonou from Libreville, had what kind of role in an official mission? What is the identity of these ladies? Do they have any official role in the Gabonese presidential palace?
3 Third, according to the Benin press, from the outlet "Nouvelles du Benin", the ladies who initially tested positive for morphine, justified their positive tests by saying that they took a medication called "Efferalgan codeine", and that a second test by other doctors found them subsequently to be negative. To this blog, this is extremely suspicious because as everybody knows, when someone test positive for drugs, the fist thing to do is to say that they took some medication that justifies the positive test. Also, the second test cannot be trusted because it was administer under the orders of Yayi Boni and Ali Bongo and no doctor in Benin was going to say that these ladies were positive, additionally morphine has a half life of a few hours and if the test was done several days later, it would not be surprising that it was found to be negative. Finally, morphine is made from opium poppy (similar origin than heroin) and the fact that these ladies tested positive for a drug such as morphine should raise the red flag as to the real mission of that plane.
Despite what the Bongos may feel, the Gabonese people are the rightful owners of the planes that people like Ali Bongo and their cronies consider theirs. It is indeed the Gabonese people who keep "Air Accrombessi" aloft. The Gabonese people must ask for an independent inquiry into the whereabouts of that plane and who was aboard and what their relationship with the Gabonese regime is. Any gabonese who has suffered the frustrations and hassles of commercial air travel in Gabon, knows that Maixent Accrombessi's personal comfort, ego and convenience should not be paid for by the Gabonese tax-payers because they are not matters of national security for most Gabonese. The people should demand that all the truth be known about this scandal and some courageous Gabonese should take it as a mission to do everything possible to clip Accrombessi's wings. These types of plane are very expensive to maintain and the flying cost could amount to 6000-7000 dollars an hour to operate. This is too expensive in a country where woman give birth on the floor because the main hospital is not properly equipped. People like Accrombessi are abusing a privilege that ought to apply only to official business, not to weekends to his hometown of Cotonou with some girlfriends or such company. The nominal excuse that this was an official mission seems fishy because no official business is conducted on weekends and certainly not by 3 young women who have been in contact with morphine. If Accrombessi wants to travel to his hometown on weekends, he can buy his own tickets like everybody else and not travel at the expense of the Gabonese people who are already suffering enough. Enough is enough!

Cette semaine, le journal «Le Béninois Libéré» a publié un scoop, informant le monde qu'un avion appartenant aux forces armées du Gabon et affecté au transport du président gabonais avait été arraisonné à Cotonou, la capitale du Bénin, sous suspicion de trafic de drogue et blanchiment d'argent. Immédiatement après que cet article eut été rendu public, le palais présidentiel gabonais a commencé à paniquer et a émis une explication risible que l'avion était en mission officielle au Bénin. Ce blog est très suspect de ce que cet avion faisait au Bénin et qui était à son bord. Passons en revue les faits non disputés:
1. Le vendredi 11 Novembre 2011, un avion appartenant à la République du Gabon est parti de Libreville à destination de Cotonou et y déposer un VIP, Maixent Accrombessi, qui est le directeur de cabinet d'Ali Bongo, en compagnie de trois jeunes femmes. Puis, le dimanche 13 Novembre 2011, le même avion est revenu les chercher.
2. C'est pendant le processus de départ que l'avion a été cloué par les autorités béninoises disant avoir trouvé une importante somme d'argent à bord et aussi parce que les trois femmes qui avaient été amenées au Bénin le vendredi par cet avion, avaient testé positif au contrôle anti-dopage alors quelles s'apprêtaient à embarquer sur un vol commercial régulier.
3. Les passeports des individus ont été saisis par les autorités et malgré l'intervention de Boni Yayi, le président du Bénin, la personne en charge de la sécurité aéroportuaire au Bénin a refusé de restituer les passeports. L'avion a quitté le Benin et est revenu au Gabon sans les passeports.
Ces allégations sont d'une extrême gravité et les deux peuples, béninois et gabonais méritent qu'on leur dise la vérité, toute la vérité. Ce cas est particulièrement préoccupant parce que la version et l'explication des événements présentés par Ali Bongo pour justifier la présence de cet avion au Bénin n'a pas du tout de sens. Le même journal dit aux lecteurs que ce n'est pas la première fois cet aéronef est mentionné de suspicion en trafic en tout genre. Il y a quelques mois, le même avion aurait déjà été saisi par la police du Bénin, mais l'affaire avait pu être étouffée. Ce blog pense qu'une autre tentative de camouflage est en cours pour les raisons suivantes:
1 Premièrement, les deux chefs d'états, Yayi Boni et Ali Bongo disent que l'avion est venu au Bénin pour une mission. Ce blog demande: «Quelle mission officielle a lieu exactement lors d'un week-end? Si effectivement, cela a été une mission officielle, peut-on révéler au public l'objet de cette mission et pourquoi un week-end a été choisi comme le moment approprié pour cette mission?
2 Deuxièmement, les trois dames qui ont été emmenées de Libreville à Cotonou; quel genre de rôle avaient-elles dans cette mission officielle? Quelle est l'identité de ces dames? Ont-elles un rôle officiel au palais présidentiel gabonais?
3 Troisièmement, selon la presse au Bénin, l'organe "Nouvelles du Bénin», ces trois dames qui ont d'abord été contrôlé positif à la morphine, ont justifié leur test positif en disant qu'elles avaient pris un médicament appelé «Efferalgan codéine" et qu'un second test d'autres médecins les a trouvé par la suite négative. Pour ce blog, voila qui est extrêmement suspect, car comme chacun le sait, quand quelqu'un a un test positif de drogue, la première chose à faire est de dire avoir consommé un médicament qui justifie le test positif. En outre, le second test ne peut pas être très fiable et crédible parce qu'il a été administré sous les ordres de Yayi Boni et Ali Bongo et aucun médecin au Bénin n'allait admettre que ces dames étaient positives dans ces conditions; en plus de cela, la morphine a une demi-vie de quelques heures et si le test a été fait quelques jours plus tard, il ne serait pas surprenant qu'elles aient été trouvées négatives. Enfin, la morphine est fabriquée à partir de pavot à opium (même origine que l'héroïne) et le fait que ces dames aient été contrôlées positives à une drogue comme la morphine devrait sonner l'alerte rouge quand à la mission réelle de cet avion.
Malgré ce que les Bongos peuvent avoir comme considérations, le peuple gabonais est le propriétaire légitime des avions que des gens comme Ali Bongo et leurs copains considèrent comme les leurs. C'est en effet le peuple gabonais qui maintient «Air Accrombessi" en altitude. Le peuple gabonais doit demander une enquête indépendante sur les activités de cet avion et qui en était à bord et quelles sont leurs relations avec le pouvoir gabonais. Tout gabonais qui a subi les frustrations et les tracas du voyage aérien commercial au Gabon, sait que le confort personnel de Maixent Accrombessi, la satisfaction de son ego et son aise, ne doivent pas être payés par le contribuable gabonais, car ce ne sont pas des questions de sécurité nationale pour la plupart des gabonais. Le peuple doit exiger que toute la vérité soit connue sur ce scandale et certains gabonais courageux devraient se donner comme mission de faire leur possible pour couper les ailes d'Accrombessi. Ces types d'avion sont très coûteux à entretenir et les frais de vol pourraient s'élever à 6000-7000 dollars de l'heure de fonctionnement. C'est trop cher dans un pays où les mères donnent naissance sur le sol parce que l'hôpital principal n'est pas correctement équipé. Les gens comme Accrombessi abusent d'un privilège qui devrait s'appliquer seulement aux activités d'importance officielle, mais pas pour aller passer le week-end dans sa ville natale de Cotonou avec des amies ou de la bonne compagnie. L'excuse nominale qui dise qu'il s'agissait d'une mission officielle semble louche, car aucune activité officielle n'est normalement menée le week-end et certainement pas par trois jeunes femmes qui ont été en contact avec de la morphine sinon de l'héroïne. Si Accrombessi veut voyager vers sa ville natale le week-end, il peut acheter ses propres billets comme tout le monde et de ne pas voyager aux frais du peuple gabonais qui souffre déjà trop comme ça. Non, "Ça Suffit Comme Ça!"
