Raymond Ndong-Sima, who has already announced his candidacy for the presidential election and is already touring the country, gave a presentation under the sponsorship of the associative platform "Gabon d'Abord".

 

If it was a good presentation, because it must be admitted that the man is capable, we remained somewhat amused by Raymond Ndong-Sima's answer to the question of whether Gabonese should be content to continue to vote, despite the repeated frauds of the regime in order to perpetuate themselves at the helm of the country.

 

To answer, Raymond Ndong-Sima borrowed from Blaise Pascal, his wager to the question of the existence or not of God. Blaise Pascal replied that for him, he might as well believe in God to be sure to earn his place in paradise, if there is a paradise; and that one had nothing to lose by believing because by not believing, one would be punished if indeed God existed.

 

In the context of the elections in Gabon, Raymond Ndong-Sima argues that it is necessary to go and vote because, if the authorities finally do the right thing by not carrying out systematic fraud, the opposition would win.

 

The "wager of Raymond-Ndong Sima" may seem clever and playful; but no people has won their case in this way. The systematization of fraud in Gabon is such that the Bongos would remain in power for 2000 years if alternative mechanisms were not put in place to make them leave. Waiting for the Bongos to sit down and observe the holding of free and fair elections, is a losing bet. The Gabonese people cannot just go and vote continuously and wait for the Bongos to finally become wise and republican. It is simply a fool's bargain.

Raymond Ndong-Sima, qui a déjà annoncé sa candidature à l'élection présidentielle et parcoure déjà le pays, a présenté un exposé sous l’égide de la plateforme associative "Gabon d'Abord".

 

Si au demeurant ce fut un bel exposé, car il faut l’avouer l’homme a de la contenance, nous sommes restés quelque peu amusés par la réponse de Raymond Ndong-Sima à la question de savoir si les Gabonais devaient se contenter de continuer d’aller voter, en dépit des fraudes à répétition du régime afin de se pérenniser au gouvernail du pays.

 

Pour répondre, Raymond Ndong-Sima a emprunté à Blaise Pascal, son pari face à la question de l’existence ou non de Dieu. Blaise Pascal répondit que pour lui, autant croire en Dieu pour être sûr de gagner sa place au paradis, si paradis il y a ; et que l’on n’avait rien à perdre en croyant car en ne croyant pas, on serait puni si effectivement Dieu existait.

 

Dans le contexte des élections au Gabon, Raymond Ndong-Sima affirme qu’il faut aller voter car, si les autorités observent finalement la rectitude en ne procédant pas à la fraude systématique, l’opposition remporterait.

 

Le « pari de Raymond-Ndong Sima » peu paraitre malin et espiègle ; mais aucun peuple n’a obtenu gain de cause de cette manière. La systématisation de la fraude au Gabon est telle que les Bongo demeureraient au pouvoir pendant 2000 ans si des mécanismes alternatifs n’étaient pas mis en place pour les faire partir. Attendre que les Bongo s’assagissent et observent la tenue d’élections libres et équitables est un pari perdant. Le peuple Gabonais ne peut pas se contenter d’aller voter continuellement et d’attendre que les Bongo deviennent finalement sages et républicains. C’est simplement un marché de dupes.
