The Alternance platform has just designated Professor Albert Ondo-Ossa as its consensual candidate to face Ali Bongo on August 26 in the presidential election.

 

In a normal situation, the outcome of this election would not be subject to any uncertainty, as in all qualities of leadership and talent, Professor Albert Ondo-Ossa is superior to Ali Bongo, and by far!

 

However, the political history of Gabon being what it is, the deficiencies of Ali Bongo are not a handicap to him, because the entire system is designed so that it is he who is designated the winner, whatever the circumstances.

 

The exercise that the Alternance platform has just carried out is commendable, certainly; but unfortunately, it certainly does not represent an acceleration of the country's political history and the end of the system of mediocrity that the Bongos have implanted. The Bongo system will not allow real competition emanating from political pluralism to take place.

 

Even if this blog knows that in a normal environment, Professor Albert Ondo-Ossa would crush Ali Bongo; we remain lucid enough to recognize that the Bongos are not about to let go of the goose that lays the golden eggs.

 

Gabon is unfortunately not yet a democracy and certainly will not be one after August 26, 2023.

La plateforme Alternance vient de désigner le Professeur Albert Ondo-Ossa, comme étant son candidat consensuel pour affronter Ali Bongo le 26 aout prochain lors de l’élection présidentielle.

 

En situation normale, l’issue de cette élection ne ferait l’objet d’aucune incertitude, tant en toutes qualités de leadership et de talent, le Professeur Albert Ondo-Ossa est supérieur à Ali Bongo, et de loin !

 

Mais voilà, l’histoire politique du Gabon étant ce qu’elle est, les déficiences d’Ali Bongo ne sont pas un handicap pour lui, car le système tout entier est conçu pour que ce soit lui qui soit désigné vainqueur, quelques soient les circonstances.

 

L’exercice auquel vient de se livrer la plateforme Alternance est louable, certes ; mais malheureusement, il ne représente certainement pas une accélération de l’histoire politique du pays et la fin du système de médiocrité qu’ont implanté les Bongo. Le système Bongo ne laissera pas s’installer une véritable compétition émanant du pluralisme politique.

 

Même si ce blog sait que dans un environnement normal, le Professeur Albert Ondo-Ossa écraserait Ali Bongo ; nous restons assez lucides pour reconnaitre que les Bongo ne sont pas près de lâcher la poule aux œufs d’or.

 

Le Gabon n’est malheureusement pas encore une démocratie et ne le sera certainement toujours pas après le 26 Aout 2023.
