DOES HÉRITAGE ET MODERNITÉ CALL FOR A BREACH OR SOMETHING ELSE? HÉRITAGE ET MODERNITÉ PRONE-T-IL LA RUPTURE OU AUTRE CHOSE?

English version

Their rhetoric is in line with the guidelines and directional lines of the opposition. Their analysis of the regime’s record appears without any concession, and joins point by point that made by the opposition. Its members openly express their desire for a change of course for the country. But they affirm to still belong to the PDG and they think that change can be attained from within the party. Can we honestly believe in this break at the same time that they will not fully claim their independence (at least for now)?

Dear readers, this blog like to mention that we must give the Héritage et Modernité members all the latitude to express their freedom of opinion and choice. We do not want to encourage the reflex of an attitude of suspicion, as was the case in 2009, when many Gabonese thought that Andre Mba Obame was playing Ali Bongo’s game. Today we all know that he was sincere and lost his life for that. We must analyze the progression of Héritage et Modernité coldly and with realism and wonder what they are actually trying to do.

Can one speak of a break with governance the Bongos’ way, while remaining within the PDG? We doubt it very much, because when you dissect how the Bongos have always governed, there is no room for dissent internally or externally. Do Barro Chambrier and his companions have the means to impose within the PDG, a new vision of how to govern Gabon in a cleaner way, uninhibited, more balanced, stripped of the waste of the past; without first getting rid of Ali Bongo? We doubt it.

Dear readers, we have to push the analysis further, while respecting the choices of each other; and it is this theme of the analysis of the action of Héritage et Modernité that we must continue to do as this group continues to unfold.
