Dear readers, as you may have heard by now, last week our compatriot Leon Obame was convicted in a Washington DC court, of assaulting the Gabonese ambassador, Michael Moussa Adamo. As you know this blog never pulls it punches and tells it like it is. Therefore, while we recognize that these charges are serious and the moment is particularly difficult for our compatriot Leon Obame and his family, we must never forget what was the context of the confrontation between Leon Obame and Michael Moussa Adamo.

The context was a peaceful demonstration by Gabonese activists in front of the Gabonese embassy in Washington. Therefore, Leon Obame was there on our behalf, to speak for all of us; to make our voice heard. He was there to protest against the tyranny that has ruled Gabon for 45 years now. For that, we thank him and wish him courage and strength for we know he will be vindicated in the end.

This blog will not re-litigate the issue here; but just remind the readers that the sentencing has not occurred yet and that our compatriot Leon Obame has already served almost a year in detention, which will be taken into account in the sentencing. There are still several hearings related to this case before the final sentencing is pronounced. Until then, our compatriot Leon Obame and his family need our support during this difficult time.

Chers lecteurs, comme vous avez pu déjà l'entendre ou le lire, la semaine dernière notre compatriote Léon Obame a été condamné par un tribunal de Washington DC aux USA, de voies de fait contre l'ambassadeur du Gabon, Michael Moussa Adamo. Comme vous le savez ce blog ne fait pas dans la langue de bois et dit les choses comme elles sont. Par conséquent, même si nous reconnaissons que ces accusations soient graves et le moment particulièrement difficile pour notre compatriote Léon Obame et sa famille, nous ne devons jamais oublier quel était le contexte de la confrontation entre Léon Obame et Michael Moussa Adamo.

Le contexte était une manifestation pacifique d'activistes gabonais en face de l'ambassade du Gabon à Washington. Par conséquent, Léon Obame était en cet endroit là en notre nom, il parlait pour nous tous; il y faisait entendre notre voix. Il était là pour protester contre la tyrannie qui pille le Gabon depuis 45 ans maintenant. Pour cela, nous le remercions et lui souhaitons du courage et de la force car nous savons qu'il aura gain de cause à la fin.

Ce blog ne va pas ici refaire le procès, mais juste rappeler aux lecteurs que la sentence n'a pas encore eut lieu et que notre compatriote, Léon Obame, a déjà purgé près d'un an de détention, qui sera pris en compte dans la détermination de la peine. Il y a encore plusieurs audiences relatives à cette affaire avant que la sentence définitive soit prononcée. D'ici-là, notre compatriote Léon Obame et sa famille ont besoin de notre soutien durant cette période difficile.
